Proper Aperture Size? Sapphire x1950 Pro 512

Right now I have it set to 256MB, should I lower it to 128?
Is the higher better, or setting it lower optimal?
I have 1GB RDRAM PC1066.
Thanks for any help.

Each system seems to work differently with each particular selection. I've found it best to simply experiment with the settings and run the same exact benchmark to see if there's any difference in performance between them.

Personally, I find either 128 or 256 works best for me with 2 GB of Dual Channel system RAM installed.

I just don't think there's any cut n dried perfect option on this one.

First off...nice card

Secondly on my system if i set it to anything less than 256 (which is the max) my graphic card will run at 320x240 @ 8 colours

This is because I have an x-fi sound card so the more pci devices you have connected the higher your agp aperture should be.

Hmmmm??? That's a strange one. I've never had any limitations on which AGP Aperture size I could set regardless of the number of PCI cards installed. Nor has the selection of AGP Aperture size ever limited my video resolutions and such.

One thing, however, you do NOT want to do is to put a demanding PCI card (e.g. Audio) in a slot that shares the same IRQ as the video card. Otherwise, I've never had any problems selecting all my resolutions and colors no matter how many PCI cards are there.

Strange
