CED_2583 is on a distinguished road

exclamation 9700 Pro drivers will not install properly

[EDIT]: I have successfully installed the version 2.5 drivers from the OEM's website, attempts to upgrade drivers lead to same error;
[EDIT]: 3.0 drivers have been installed, and after little system cough, appear to be working properly
[EDIT]: Ok, after much guffaw, I was able to install the newst Omega drivers; now it's off to trying to figure out why BF1942's textures are completely screwed up If anyone has any ideas about this [BF1942] problem please lemme know

Hi all:

FIC A97P RADEON 9700 PRO 128MB DDR 8X AGP OEM

Problem : On a fresh install of XP with DX9.0a installed, trying to install 3.2 drivers from ATI's website.

After the first half of the install (before installing the control panel), Windows restarts, boots up; as soon as I see the 'Welcome' screen, I can already see that the graphics are screwy.

It looks like the entire screen was drawn out over sand-paper, dots, red lines and what have you.

Very soon after loading, the desktop then proceeds to freeze up, use of mouse is lost, and then system either hangs as is, or screen goes black and system hangs.

System Specs :

Mboard: ASUS P4T533-C
PSU: Future Power 400W P4 Ready
Processor: Intel P4 3.06Ghz
Video: FIC A97P RADEON 9700 PRO 128MB DDR 8X AGP OEM
RAM: 2 sticks 1066mhz 512 MB RDRAM
HD: WD 30GB

Any insight into this problem is GREATLY appreciated, as I'm two steps away from RMA'ing this thing
