Pissed Gothic 3 settings for ATI X1900XTX

Fist of i'd like to say hi to everyone
im new to this forum looks like a great place..

Heres the thing i just forked out alot of money on a Ati Radeon X1900XTX just to be able to play Gothic III But the game seems a bit buggy from time to time even at low quality

My system is composed of a P4 3.2 ghz wiht 1gb of corasir's twinx 3200pro memory a 80 gb sata HD 460 watt enermax power supply and Asus MOBO got the latest drivers from ati ..
i was wondering if someone could give all the correct settings in the catalyst control
because i seem to meet all the required requirements but the game plays like crap ...

and i realy dont want to spend a all bunch of $ to get me a core 2 duo processor

Welcome to DH!!
what resolution do u game at and what version of drivers are u using?
If u are gaming at 1280 x 1024 or lower u can/will be cpu limited.

why did u buy a x1900 xtx to play at 1024 x 768?
Anyway since u bought ur stuck with it.(which is a good thing)
Well u can start by turning up the image quality to reduce the cpu limitation.Put everythin to max and enable 4x Quality AA and 16x HQ AF
If ur CPU supports hyper-threading enable it.Try these first and see if theres any improvement.
If that doesn't work overclock ur cpu from 3.2 to 3.4ghz.Is ur P4 socket 775 or socket 478?
Another thing u could do is go to tweaktown.com and check which catalyst version performs best at ur resolution.Cause in some catalysts the performance at 1024x768 gets degraded severly.

Excuse me sorry to interupt and it has nothing to do with your discussion, but...... Am I that slow that i can't figure out how to post a question about a problem I have? I have used other forums before, and was able to post a question easily. I browsed around and liked the responses to questions on here and decided to become a member and I can't figure this sight out. If I could get some start up help i would appreciate it Thanks!!!

@mental72-U should be able to comfortably play at 1280x1024.Try 1280x1024 with all the inagme settings turned up.And 4x Quality AA and 16x HQ AF on in catalyst control centre.
If u can play comfortably at those settings turn up the resolution to 1600x1200.If it gets a bit slow.Turn down 4x QAA to 2x QAA.
Refresh rate only plays a part in ur frame rates if u turn on vsync which is not advisable.
Try that.As for overclocking ur CPU.Its easy to do.But if not done right it can cause problems.So try this out and tell me if it improves ur situation or not.Is ur monitor CRT?
But seriously why buy a x1900 xtx to play at 1024x768?(with the IQ turned down)
@drivehard-Welcome to driverheaven.
Its not nice to post somethin irrelevant in the middle of a topic.But i'll tell u anyway.In the main forum page.Theres an option called new thread.Right above the thread/starter column.

@hackerx
Would just like to thank you for everything Seems as if everything is as good as should be there are times where things will hang for a second or so but after reading about gothic 3 i've learn that its just the way the game is there are even people running cross-fire and sli video cards that still have the game hang once in a while ... until a patch comes out theres nothing else to do this game was'nt fully tested before release...
Anyways with your help i at least got the game to look good and play fast ...
I appreciate it thanks again..
