I think Im going crazy!!!!
Ok here is my problem, I just got a Gecube Radeon 9600XT Platinum 256MB Edition. Every time I play a Game (Sims 2 DoD CSS WoW and others) after playing about 10 Minutes - 2 Hours the game suddenly crashes and goes to the Blue screen Saying <0x000000eEA (0x8179B4C8 0x82DF07B8 0xF7999CB4 0x00000001) and the driver ati2dvag. I fixed this problem by installing omega drivers but then the games started to freeze and hang and i have to restart my computer. Once i fixed those ones i start having another problem like the computer would say that i dont have 9.0 Direct X, once again i fix those and i get computer crashes and game freezes without warning. If i fix those it goes on to another problem and goes around in a loop. I seriously am going crazy and feel like making a website like (Smashmypc.com). I just got this video card. M/B Bios, AGP Drivers, Video Card Bios, Video Drivers and all the stuff on my computer is up to date. Computer spec is:
2.4GHZ Intel Celeron 478 Pin HP/T
512+256 DDR400 PC3200 184 Pin
GeCube Radeon 9600XT 256MB/Bit Platinum Edition
DXdiag is 9.0c and says its working fine, the problems only occurs everytime i play games. There is nothing wrong with hardware but i think it is the software.
I used to have a Geforce 5200FX and that went well untill i got the 9600XT.
Please help or lots of people could get serverly hurt in my country.
Thanks

Two things come to mind after reading your post. The first thing is that your Power Supply is Bad and the second is that maybe one of your sticks of ram is bad. The ram is easy to figure out, Just take one stick out and see what happens. I think it's your PSU since you just got a new power hungry video card.

Hi, my PSU (i think) is fine as it is 400W and i have read many posts saying that people should get a 400w PSU. I will try the memory stick thingy but what am i looking for once i remove it? and which one to remove? 512 or 256?
Thanks

I would take out the 256mb one first and then try to replicate your crashes and see what happens. Also Just cause your PSU says 400watts on it doesn't mean that it is. PSU makers are infamous for overrating there PSU's and if it's starting to fail it would make no difference how many watts it is. Good Luck

When you traded out from the nVidia card to the new ATI card, did you do a complete format and reinstallation of Windows? If not, it's time to do it. It seems that, perhaps, old conflicting drivers are still in your system.
Also, are you trying to do any overclocking? If so, restore things to the defaults and see if the problems continue.
Good luck!

Do you have Fastwrites turned on or off? This sounds like an issue I had with my old 9600XT. I fixed the issue by turning them off if I remember correctly. Unfortunately the original post I put up here when I fixed the issue to thank the folks here was "mispaced" at some point (probably when they did some database changes here at DH).

The way you're explaining this it sounds like you still had your nvidia card in when you did the format and installation of Windows. You need to have the ATi card in when you do the format and then you don't have to use any driver cleaner to remove anything nvidia related.
After this installation, then you update to SP2 and all the other Windows Updates.
Also, be sure to download the latest DirectX from October, 2006. It was just released a few weeks ago.
If you still have problems, download MemTest86 and run the tests for a few hours. Preferably, overnight. You can get it here:
www.memtest86.com
This will at least tell you if there's any problem with any of the RAM in your system. If so, remove one at a time and run the tests again until there are no errors.
Additionally, you may try running the games with just the Microsoft/Windows default drivers for the video card to see if those work.
Finally, make sure you have all the updated patches for whatever games you're playing. Sometimes these problems are actually problems with the game itself.
Good luck!

I had a similar problem with x700PRO (the blue screen with ati driver reported) but at the end it turned out to be my motherboard.
If your AGP speed is 4x and you cant change it to 8x make sure that your agp slot supports 8x agp speed (maybe its 4x thats why you cant change it).
