Crossfire Problem Help!
Rig is in the sig.
I am having a very strange Crossfire problem. I am trying to get my ati x1900xt to crossfire with my asus x1900 CF edition. When the cards are plugged in (psu is all connected properly) nothing comes up on the monitor at all. About half of the boots will show a 25 error code on the motherboard display (error 25 = search for a valid VGA device & VGA bios and put it into C000:0). I thought at first it was a power supply problem but the antec 550watt TPII is listed as compatiable by Ati. I tried an Antec 650watt TPIII anyway but still the same problem. Any help would be great as I really don't want to junk a $400 card.

You have the CF card in the bottom slot and the dongle hooked to opposite DVI on the slave?.(Im sure you do but you didnt mention your connections there)

Well seeing as I have the same MoBo I am pretty familliar with its workings. The more info you can give me the more I can help. I know had initially had some issues with the 6.11's allowing me to activate Crossfire so I would firstly recommend trying the Cat 6.10's to be sure its not the drivers.

I am trying that now, but it's not that I cannot get crossfire enabled, I just get no video at all. It seems to run through the boot sequence just fine but with no video out put at all.

Okay so the CFE card is in the Bottom Slot, Slave in the top.You have no drivers installed. the Dongle is hooked up properly you turn on the PC and you get Post Code 25? I would also try just hooking up to the DVI on the CFE card just to get into windows and see that it see both cards in Device Manager and go from there.

That is what I tried initially but I still get no video. It doesn't seem to matter where I plug the DVI in I get nothing. Both cards work fine seperatly but fail togather.

Try each card seperately to MAKE SURE both are operating correctly..
(pull one card out and leave the other in, see if it starts up with video, then swap, and make sure the other works, then try the other slot.. and repeat)

Actually I tried this about 5 min ago. The results:
Slot 1: (Slave)
1900xt -- Works Fine
1900 CF -- Works Fine
Slot 2: (Master)
1900xt -- Fail
1900 CF -- Fail
None of these tests had both cards in at the same time. So it seemed as if my master (lower) slot on the MoBo is not working correctly. I reset the BIOS to be sure I hadn't screwed up any settings but the result is still the same. Could my MoBo be bad?
Also, the Manual says that when running a single card it should work in either slot.

Pop either card into slot 1 and then go into the bios and SEE if there is a Crossfire switch or PCI-EX 1~>2 switch (vga boot selection) of any sort.
I know that if i plug my monitor into the bottom slot on my motherboards, nothing will show up on the screen unless if set the boot device to PCI-EX16 #2
Also, what happens when you plug the cards in backwards (master in slave, slave in master slots). And connect the monitor to either one of the cards?

I cannot find any Crossfire enable switch, there is a vga boot switch but only for PCI vs PCI-E also if there are two cards plugged in (no matter which one is in which slot) nothing comes up on display at all.

Do you happen to be running SCSI? I noticed 10k Maxtor HDD which would make it an Atlas V would it not?
Maybe the SCSI card is causing IRQ mayhem and this causes other mayhem with the Crossfire setup

Thanks for the idea but I have tried it with all most all other devices disconnected (just to be sure it was the video card) and it still refuses to show anything.

Annoying problem, but RMA through Newegg is usually not a problem. At least it's not one of the video cards. I'll post to tell if it works, thanks for the help.

OK, the RMA department at Newegg came thru and the new board is in. I HAVE VIDEO!
Awesome, except that I cannot get Catalyst to enable it. It just shuts back off. The second card shows up as an unknown device in the Device Manager so it must be a driver problem now, I will delete all the old drivers, reinstall and report back.

Yes! It's finally up and working. The driver reinstall did it. Thanks for all the help from the forum.
