Call of Duty 2 problem (DirectX error)
CALL OF DUTY 2 is not working.
ok, Ill start from the top. I came back from school and turned on my PC ready to have afew horus playign CALL OF DUTY 2 but as soon as I try and join a game it says "Punk Buster needs to be enabled" so I go to options and click enable. Half a second later my game closes down really fast anmd just leaves me with my desktop and it says: The instructions at "0x7c809783" referenced memory at "0x01f40030".
And a DirectX error before that one.
So I think, maybe I should restart my comp. I do that, no difference. I then re-install the whole game and then add the patch and so on. Still the smae problem. If I make any difference to my options or try to join a game or anything it will just go straight to my desktop.
So after afew otehr things tried I looked at the DirectX/activision website and I made sure lots of things and tehn at the end it said "Make sure you are up to date with your graphic card driver". So I think, ok. I then tryed to find a driver for my card but can't even find a website on google. So I go on ATI/AMD's website. I "find" as they said , your driver. So I said XP PRO, Radeon, X800 series and then it gives me teh supposed latest driver. I then download and install that driver. I re-start my comp. And I trie COD2 Again. It had noticed my hardware chnage and then I tried it. Exact same problem.
So to get to the point.
Have I got the latest driver?
Why has COD2 suddenly messed up?
Why is directX annoying me?
Any help or solution to this problem would be most appreciated. Sorry if this is a long peice of writing, I just needed to tell you the whole story so people don't say "Did you re-install it" etc.
Anyway thanks for listening and if you have any idea or have a similar problem, please tell me! Thanks!
