Crossfire problems with 2 1900XTX and 3Dmark06
Hi @ all
I have there some major problems with my driver.
I bought me a new pc, with crossfire and some screenshots of 3dmark06, is see it can have 12670 pts, but now if i test ist i got only ~7000pts..
I overclocked the cards to 750 / 841 MHZ stable,
But if i run 3Dmark now my system uses only one graphicscard for it.
I testet it, ive disabled my crossfire and run 3dmark again, self score notghing changed..
Any ideas how i get crossfire to work with 3dMark 06?
regards
phoenix

Well thats what I figured, can certainly try and help you.
What bios are you running, and have you tweaked any of the bios settings yourself?

It may sound weird but run the 3DMark06 twice. Sometimes when I was testing, I would get a low score (~8000) and then the next run would be more around 10k where it should be...

Some of the Asus boards have a problem where they force the pcie into 1x mode reguardless... its more prominent in the Asus P5B Deluxe series but has been seen in the 975x boards too

With the Catalyst 6.11 drivers, software crossfire is supported on all X1900 and X1950 series of cards.
So i would ask you to try this - using software crossfire. Basicly, you do not need to use the 'dongle'. Try removing it, and change positions of the two X1900 cards in your pc.
Also make sure that Catalyst A.I. is set to 'advanced' to force the use of AFR (best performance for crossfire in all games).

I use the 6.11 drivers, CF work on 3dmark05 and not on the 06. If i remove the dongle i must put it in the CF master card ore?

Im not a crossfire expert, sorry. Im not exactly sure how software crossfire works. PLease wait for a person that knows more answer you.
I dont think you need the dongle at all. Just have both cards in your system, without any cabels (just one from card number one to your monitor). But again, i really dont know for sure.

Im not sure that we can use Software CF(I'll admit I havent tryed it myself either(tho I did have issues with the 6.11s not allowing me to enable CF, it said my slave was properly hooked to the dongle) but I will mess around with it a bit tomorrow(but like X1800XTTOP said I really dont know how it works either nor have I seen anyone with any clear answers either yet,Including AMD/ATI. They really gave us NO information on to utilize it)

Update your bios to 1407 or 1506. Crossfire worked with no issues with those bioses, i had issues with bioses prior to the ones mentioned.

Ive Updated my Bios now, this wont help now too. It render 3dmark06 everytime only with one card. Im a bit scared why this wont work, probably in the other 3dmarks it would be rendered correct. If i see this correct the program usually want set my ati settings back to non crossfire mode if it looks for my system. 3dmark05 isnt watching for the system configuration so it would be rendered with CF if i had it enabled. I dont know how it comes, and i dont have a answer for this problem i tried out all my knowledge for this problem changed evry setting to another and tried to get it work. It wont do
I just dont know now how to fix this problem, i wrote a email to ATI / amd that this wont work but until now i dont get any answer and dont know how to fix this bug ( I hope this is only a bug and not a bigger problem on the hardware, this was a very expensive computer, but its very fast )
If anyone from you know what it can be more plz write to me

Is your 2nd pcie slot bad? or is your CF done wrong? btw I would not have bought that x6800 its overpriced when you can crank out a 6600 to better performance than that chip with moderate cooling, to get a great oc with the 6800 you need to go water or maybe even peltier or phase cooling to get that to a decent oc without having thermal issues. just an fyi for the next chip you get =p the only thing you paid for with that 6800 was higher multiplier
