Graphics Driver Randomly Resets

Hi all,

I have a GeCube 9550XT that is having real issues. In many games, the video driver will randomly reset - ie. the screen will blank itself for 10s before returning to normal function. During this 10s, game music continues to play, however it will not respond to controls nor will it play any sound effects. Usually on the third reset in a game session, the video driver will fail to recover from its blackout, staying on the black screen while the game runs fully normally in the background (music, sfx works, it responds to keystrokes and clicks - and notably, the mouse cursor is still drawn, but the game screen remains black). For windowed 3D games, just the window will black out, whilst windows functions normally. When the driver fails to recover, I cannot run any games again until I restart Windows.

Does anyone have any idea what is going on? This is a really frustrating problem, as it has persisted through multiple driver versions, multiple reformats and two video cards (ATi Radeon 9000 Pro, then my current GeCube 9550XT) with no resolution in sight.

Thanks!

System Specs

This sounds like what happens with the error I'm getting, although I have a considerably lower-spec machine. So far I have not found a fix, maybe someone can help.
