PCIE or AGP?

You could try Sapphire's X1300 (standard version), or one of Asus' "Silent" series of cards such as the EAX1650PRO, or one of their nVidia based cards such as the EN7600GS, EN7600GT, EN7800GT, or one of the older N6600 series.

Now, depending on the type of passive cooler you get (how large it is) would determine how high up the chain of cards you should go. With a larger cooler I'd think along the lines of a 7600GS or X1600/X1650, and I'd also include some of the older cards like an X800XL. With a smaller cooler I'd go with a 6600 or an X1300, and with an older card, maybe a 9xxx series card.

a vanilla 6600 would do the job quite well . it would perform somewhere between a radeon 9500pro and a radeon 9700pro. the 6600GT is in the 9800xt range, but it requires power.

I used to see 6600's with a great big passive heatsink all over the place in AGP, struggling to find one now, but that would probably be the fastest you could find these days I would guess.

edit: hows about this ? psu should cope with it easily

I don't know how well a 230W PSU would cope with a 6600, those things are hot little buggers.

What you could do is pick up a card that the machine can handle then just slap on a Zalman fanless cooler (I've heard bad things about ThermalTake's Schooner but only good things of the Zalman cooler), that way you get the card you want with the cooling you want

yeah, afraid I was guilty of not reading op properly
that's why the link I put in was to a 6200, which that psu should be able to deal with

If you have a 5.25" bay free, you can get a dedicated graphics card power supply for 50 USD!

It's for my grandpa computer he has HP P4 3.2 HT system with xp pro with media center power supply is very small and it's very tight case. Guy I talked to at computer shop said there no way upgrade the psu because of it's size. Thats why I'm asking which better for NO FAN video card that way at least he can run qauke 4 or something good enough so he can try it out.

Truthfully, what you are looking for is a card that draws low power, not necessarily a no fan video card. Usually the fans can draw anywhere from 5 to 18 watts (a good indication of how much power a fan is drawing is the rpm they are rated for.. faster can = more power), and, of course, nil consumption with no fan.

For instance, a passively cooled Geforce 6600 (plain vanilla one) draws about 12watts in idle, 28watts at full load (at full load that's 1/2 of what the 6600 GT draws, more so due to the fan used on those cards). As for heat, usually the passive coolers they use for them will dissapate about 28watts of heat. As long as you have good airflow in the case it should be fine. If not, then you will need to go a little lower consuming card, or you increase this dissapation rate by increasing the size of the passive cooler, or going with other alloys, such as copper, or heatpipe combinations.

BTW, a 7600GS is pretty much on par wattage wise with the 6600, while the 7300 draws almost next to nothing (6watts at idle, 16watts at load). For comparison, an X1300 Pro draws slightly more than the 6600/7600GS.

In any case, give THIS page a once over. It gives a good read on the wattage consumption of the newer cards (Edit: well, the X800 up, and the 6600 up that is).

just because it doesn't have a fan doesn't mean that it doesn't draw too much power. it can still pull enough power to give the sytem a good run for it's money.

and F1N3ST is right you know, there are available on NewEgg for $49.99 .

Especially on a 230W PSU

I.e. some 7600GT's run fanless and would probably blow that PSU out.

You might be stuck, Robert. Most mini PSUs of that type don't usually go very high in the wattage department. They usually run from 150 watts to 250 watts. Essentially what you are looking for is a MicroATX Power Supply. StarTech, in particular, has a 255 watt MicroATX PSU.. but it ain't cheap. If you look around you may find someone that has a higher one.

Nice find, CDs. Although, all the above 300 mATX PSUs seem a bit.. deep when compared to the ones that are 200 watts or below, such as THIS one. That might be a bit of a concern. Although, that Coolmax one might do it (even though 2 outta 3 reviewers gave it a bad rating).
