Sad X1800XT + BFG BFGRNF4U (nforce4 ultra) ???

i recently purchased a BFG tech BFGRNF4U motherboard to replace my annoying asus a8v-e deluxe (too many irq problems with sound). with the old board, my system never hung or froze. my problem was that occasionally it would hiccup due to the sound. since installing the new motherboard, i have experienced a few random blue screens, and blue screens without fail while trying to run 3d applications. things i have noticed are as follows:

1) motherboard reports CPU temp diode at -16C (i know that the chip runs ~35C)
2) unable to flash the bios using BFG's flash utility (reports divide overflow error)
3) when the system crashes, a constant sawtooth-like tone comes from the speakers
4) blue screen is a system halt ("windows has been halted to prevent damage...")

i can play a game for a few minutes before experiencing this. i've never had overheating problems or strange lockups before. i am baffled.

i tried the ATI nforce4 hotfix to no avail (hung within seconds of attempting to run a D3D game)

system specs are as follows:

BFG Tech BFGRNF4U motherboard
Athlon 64 3500+ (venice core)
OCZ Plat DDR 3200 512 MB x 2 (in slots 1 & 3)
ATI Radeon X1800XT 512MB
SoundBlaster Audigy 2 pci card
D-Link DWL-G510 pci wifi card
M-Audio Firewire Audiophile (connected to firewire on SB card)
2x WD 200GB SATA HD's (on SATA channels 1 & 3)
1x Maxtor 200GB IDE HD (on IDE channel 1)

disabled onboard peripherals -- i'm stumped

thoughts on using the X1800XT with nforce4 ultra, and this board in particular?

i've heard it's supposed to be the most stable nforce4 board to date... what gives?

System Specs

have you tried the board with any other video cards from the issues it sounds like you may have a flaky board especially if it wont allow you to update the bios

yes. lockups occur using the most recent catalyst drivers. using the omega drivers i get ver frequent CTD's.

Sounds like the motherboard is possibly bad.. Are you overclocking?
