help with computer

hey, I need help on this computer im thinking about buying for some one. It is a

Toshiba Satellite A105-S101 Intel Celeron M 1.6GHz / 802.11b/g Wireless / 15.4-Inch WXGA / 256GB DDR2 / 60GB HDD / CDRW / DVD Combo / Windows XP Home / Refurbished Notebook PC.

I was wondering if that would do good with games. Because i have the new sony vio notebook and it works with new games perfectly. I was just wondering if I would have to upgrade the graphics card or anything.

thanks alot for any help

Well first off it's a Celeron so right their you know it's not going to be good with games. Another thing is you don't say what kind of video card it has but knowing it's a Celeron I bet it's bad lol.

I would say there is not a chance it can play current games like bf2 at very good settings or at all.

Anotherthing to note is that 256mb of ram is NOTHING! The lowest you should go is 512mb!

I found it had this for video

"ATI Mobility RADEON XPRESS 200M graphics with 64-128MB dynamically allocated shared video memory"

So I guess it could play games at low settings but I would look for something that has a little more punch on the video side. Same with the ram.

You may have answered your own question above when you stated that the new Sony Vaio is handling the new games very well. Use that as a standard as to what to look for.

For a true gaming notebook you'll need to be spending quite alot of cash...on an Alienware desktop replacement or a Falcon NW notebook... or if you've got really deep pockets or are feeling generous, won the lottery etc... a Voodoo gaming notebook would do nicely

Unless you NEED a laptop (always on the move between cities etc), save your money that you would spend for a gaming laptop and get a very good desktop PC. Gaming laptops are for people who when go to buy one, don't have to ask the price, they get it anyway, for the rest of us it is a waste of money. You can buy a cheap new laptop for about 400 GBP and a good gaming desktop for less than 1000. For a good gaming laptop expect to spend about 2000+, plus you can't upgrade it in the future, so if gaming performance is an issue, you are beeped in the long run.
