X1600 - Low framerate ?

Hello all.

Few days ago i decided to chage my gfx card because it was too week. I chaged my Radeon 9200 to Radeon X1600 Series AGP. I installed lastest ATi CCC & ATi Tray tool. Everything in was fine, my new gfx card worked nice, there was huge diference @ 3Dmark test between my old card and my new one ,but framerate in games was worst or same like old card. I tried diferent CCC settings, virus checking, re-install windows. Nothing changed.

My PC configuration:

AMD Athlon XP 1500+ @ Athlon XP 1900+
512 MB RAM
Radeon X1600 Series AGP

Any sugestions ?

(This is my first post @ DH board, so hello all. If i forgot about sth in my pc specific or problem description write it and i will correct it imidetly)

Hey welcome to driver heaven this place rocks very intelligent people and alot of help I think you'll enjoy it here it's all I use for my answers and it works well. Now about that card aside from your weak cpu this card isn't what it's hopped up to be and my suggestion would be if you still have your reciept to return it because these cards do not play games well at all I had the pci E version of the x1600 and I had the same performance you described and my system is pretty setup as you see in my sig but I need new ram I know that but anyway the card only has 128bit memory which slows the entire gaming experience down to a crawl it's like an interactive slideshow I returned mine and got an x1900GT which is pretty good but I was still looking for more out of it but it's good enough for now until the DX10 cards come out oh and don't bother trying to overclock the x1600 it doesn't like it very much and it kinda tries to lock you out from doing it certain progs allow you to but even the slightest oc and the card crashes and restarts the comp sorry you bought that card hoping for more I did the same but was highly dissapointed you should look for a card with 256bit GDDR3 memory and higher clocks it will make the difference your looking for but also you might want to look into upgrading your mobo and cpu that also is whats causing the probs.

Errr it could have something to do with your PC specs.

I have a 1600PRO 256MB and have little to no troubles running at good rates at 1280x1024 and higer on most games.
