Bad X1900XTX?
Today I decided to fire up FarCry. I haven't played it in about a week. Upon starting the game, I have corruption all over the place. Weird lines, tearing and smearing. Fearing that the card just took a dump, I started some other games. They all appear to be fine.
The card is one week old, so I can RMA it. The only thing that I can figure is that the way I had FarCry set, I was using SM 3.0. The other games that I tried didn't use that. Would that make a difference?
Or could it possibly be that the game just got corrupted?

The first thing I would have tried (before even asking for help) would be to re-install the game and run it normally. Try that. Hope all goes well.

Exactly. If you upgraded your graphics card since installing FC, then re-install. I believe the game renders some things according to your GPU and now that you changed it the data files and not in sync with the new card.
Re-install, apply the patches and run again.

I forgot to mention, I did uninstall the game. If I run the game unpatched, it's fine. When I upgrade to the latest patch and enable SM 3.0, then I get the corruption.
When I last ran the game, I already had the X1900 installed, the 1.33 patch was loaded, and I already had SM 3.0 enabled. Everything was fine.
Now, it's garbage.

Use 0xAA when using HDR and SM 3.0. CryTek hasn't released their next patch yet that will allow HDR+AA on ATi's latest cards.
(You can try this, but it makes the game a little buggy, but the graphics work great:

Whew.....
I after uninstalling the Cat 6.4's and reinstalling them, I decided to try a different driver altogether. I went back to the 6.2's. All is now well.
I have never seen that kind of corruption before on any of my systems. From the pictures that I have seen posted by people that have had bad cards, I thought for sure that I was now an unlucky member of the group.
Fortunately for me, it appears only to be a nasty driver bug with FarCry and my system.
