Stuck bewteen 2 Graphic Cards

I’m stuck between an X1600 Pro and a 6800 Xtreme or maybe even a 7300 but mainly looking at the x1600 and 6800. I can get both of these at great prices.

1) Which one would you recommend?

2) Which do you all think will give me the best overall performance and would best compliment my A64 3700+?

for me answer is pretty clear go for the 6800 xt which is far better card then x1600 pro and will really be more suitable to your config , 6800 xt will you give also better preformance in games but if you think about x1600pro casue you like ati , the one which really matters is palit x1600 pro golden . One more thing, the card from ati which can be compared to 6800xt is x800gto (gto2)

Im using it mainly to play counter-strike source.

so you would go with the 6800 256mb over the x1600 512 mb?

And i noticed that theyre are like 5 different kinds of 6800's. Which one of them are best for gaming? (or should i just ask this in the nvidia section?)

H3X4D3C1M4L will become famous soon enough
System Specs

ATI cards usually do better in the HL2/Source engine games so go with the X1600

Hey, I am in the exact same boat as you, play CS:S and want to upgrade. I have been looking around and the best bet I have found is the x1600XT. I know it is 256mb as compared to the 512mb PRO, but the XT is alot faster of a card. And from what I have been told 256mb is more then enough. These cards are not fast enough to even be able to use 512mb of ram efficently. However I could be wrong, I am far from an expert on Video cards.

I agree on the whole, about the 6800XT vs x1600pro, in nowadays games the 6800XT would be better but it seems that the x1600pro will be faster in future games (although it isn´t for sure) and has the best video quality when watching divx or any film in your pc. The decition is yours
