x800 series in general ive found to be simply faster, all the little additions they make aren't huge differences. i have an x850 pro upgraded from a 9700 pro. i just run games faster.

x1000 series though has a redesigned archectiture and PS 3.0 so you will get more eye candy. 9800 pro is pretty much the bottom the barrel in terms of performance the x800xt is a must better performer.
