Help with Sapphire Radeon X800GTO
i have the Sapphire Radeon X800GTO and i used the overclock software that came with the card called Trixx. i set it to the extreme setting where the fan runs at 100% instead of 53%. it increased the VPU from 400MHz to 425.25Mhz and the mem clock from 490Mhz to 543.38Mhz. idle it runs at like 40 Cel. it has a low temp of 36.9, a high of 56.4 and an average of 43.6. is this too high, or is there any other way youd recommend or not overclock at all. the program scanned the card for the highest frequency, so does it get the highest stable frequency or is there a chance my card will fry?

It may just be your case. I ran Trixx and got speeds up to 439core/564mem. Temps were 38min/50.6max/44.2avg I will be putting a Zalman cooler on it to hopefully reach evan higher.
Take a look and your case fans - clean them if the are full of dust bunnies. You may want to invest in a fan controller if you have multiple fans. I have 1 80mm side/1 80mm front/1 80mm rear/1 80mm top all running through a single controller. Even at max speeds, the noise is acceptable. If I turn them all down, cooling is still adequate and its near silent.

the temps aren't that bad considering you're running on stock cooling. Try running the Trixx program a few more times to see if the card will clock any higher. i just ran my Trixx for a 3rd tima and got up to 490/573. I will be installing a Zalman VF700-AlCu onto the card later tonight to see what speeds I can reach. I will let you know what my temps are at that point. A new VGA cooler purchase may be in your future...
EDIT: after running the "extreme" overclock search through Trixx, my temps got up to 54.8 - looks like thats about normal

i got the x800gto too... installed trixx... i got with the performance setting
the mem: 527 and the vpu: 457. temperature gets to min. 41.5 and max 65.
av. of 54C. is this normal? and i played some farcry... and then it got really high. i just checked the monotoring thing of trixx, and the max was 80C. so, i guess thats too high?

I'm not sure about that "Trixx" software. I seriously doubt it works that well. I prefer to use ATITool. With it I can overclock to about 595/600 using the stock cooler.
And for a reference I would say that core temps should max out just below 70°C. I've personally just ordered a Zalman VF700-Cu. I don't expect it to really drop my temps by 10°C, but at least it won't be as loud as the stock cooler, and should let me run the RAM slightly higher.
