Opengl 2.0 Software Emulation...

Hey All...

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I have an application that requires opengl 2.0 to be supported in order to run. (Although I don't know why, it's not a graphics intense app!)

Anyway... my ati card does not support 2.0 through hardware. Ya I would like to buy another but the system is a laptop. Is there a utility that will allow open gl 2.0 to run through software?

I know it will be slow and that is ok. I have used such a utility for an old NVIDIA card on another system, so I know it can be done... Just don't know how.

Thanks...

If you have the latest ATI drivers they support OGL2.0 through software or hardware if available I believe.

Being on a laptop you might not... you could check out Omega drivers

I am using the latest Omega drivers which have been a large improvement.

I have run into this problem before using an NVIDIA card, and their was a utility that allowed me to select that open gl 2.0 be run through software so that the application would be fooled into thinking that open gl was fine and functioning.

All open gl drivers are installed but my hardware can not support 2.0.

I know Rivatuner has an option to force a given OpenGL version. I don't know if it works for unsupported versions though.

this post is kinda funny as most of ATi's OpenGL 2.0 extensions are software emulated, like non power of 2 textures and a few other things, yes gl viewer reports them as suppored but games needing hardware acceleration dont see them.
