ATI drivers install, but XP says "is for previous version of Windows"

Hi,

I've searched to forums and havnt come across a solution. I have tried installing both the newst version of OmegaDrivers and a DHmodded version of the official ATI 6.4 The installation progress goes flawlessly. System them reboots into 640x400 256 colors, and when I to go Screen Settings I am told something like "Cannot use the current driver because it is for a previous version of Windows". I have downloaded the 2K/XP versions several time, and it IS the version I am using. Everything ATI removed before installation as well. Any ideas?

Specs: Ati Mobility Radeon 9600, Centrino, XP-SP2
