radeon 9800 at very strange clock speed :S
Hello everyone, Im new to the forum so just want to say hello everyone
The thing is with my radeon 9800 pro that if I have it on "defult" settnings it's Core Clock speed is 324 mhz and memory clock at 276.75 mhz. Ive read some here in the forum and found out that my card must be underclocked! But when I take it up to what is suppose to be as normal ( 380/340) there are artifacts everywhere and graphic bugs and the sound foock up. So well, any ideas what might be wrong ?
Just want to add that the card is the card that followed with the computer when I bought it, so I havn't touched it really :P

Sounds to me like it might not be a "Pro" card at all. How did you conclude that is was?

alot of the last 9800pro cards that were available for retail were the 128bit cards.they still appeared as pros in the cards bios and that is why att and ati tool or whatever is reading the bios says its a pro.it will also say if it is 128bit or 256bit.

As >GSXR<mrbusa posted above, it is very likely that the 9800 in your machine was clocked as you were seeing it from the factory, or that the prior owner adjusted the clocks (or the name '9800 Pro') by editing the BIOS.
If you want more success overclocking it, you could try a better cooling setup, like Arctic Silencer, but even that might not work due to voltage limitations.

Sold as pros but they where not, also they did specify on the site that sold them 128BIT
but they had the same clocks as a "pro"

ATI's own cleaner tool should do fine as well. Clean the drivers, turn off the system, remove the old card, insert the new, turn on the system while performing the obligatory "oh don't fail me now" rain dance, install drivers, try a game.
Welcome to the forum, Mr King.
