Real Disappointed in my 1800xl...

Bought it used off ebay. Doesnt OC at all without massive artifacting in ati tool. The ati tools benchmark put me 1700 below lowfats x850xt score. even at stock speeds it shows artifacts in ati tool. ran one 3dmark 03 test and I only scored 1k over my 6800gt. Ill run more benches now but it seems overclocking is out of the question...

Try removing the HS, carefully cleaning it and the core, and reassembling it using Arctic Silver. Sometimes there are major assembly screw-ups on those.

P.S. This is karma. . .you should have listened to Worf!

Can you control the fan via ATiTool? I know my X850XT overclocked like crap with the stock fan settings. Once I let ATiTool take over with higher fan speeds at certain temps, it worked much better.

Absolutely, there is no harm, and very well might help.

yea fan speed is at 100% im gonna throw some AS5 at it and see what happens.

Bah cant find my AS5 moved my room around and appearently lost it in the chaos.

Been reading up on it too alot of them arent stable past 1.175v and I guess i cant realy reach a decent Oc with that alone. Ill look more into it.

that really suxs man i personaly would never buy computer parts from ebay just for that reason
the guy you bout it from probably oc it way too much and burned it up and it was to late for him to rma it so he goes and sells it on ebay i would demand my money back and report him as a scammer to ebay
another reason not to but comp. parts from ebay punk buster bans by hardware guids
you could be buying banned hardware

I just dont see this guy ripping me off hes bought and sold PC hardware and has 48 positive feedback. Even said it worked great in the ad. Is it possible it was shaken up and damaged in shipping? The box looked fine though.

one question i do have though my 6800 gt had an adapter for the 4 pin pcie connector that split into 2 male molex connectors and both had to be plugged in. This card however came with the adapter but one plug was male and one was female, I thought the 1800 series were power hogs and if so why does this one have one less molex connector?

Just recieved an E-Mail from him. Very nice and offered to make things right for me. Turns out he just got another x1800xl from ati for a warranty replacement and is willing to either give me my money back or swap cards. Id much rather swap cards so I asked him if we could do that and im awaiting his reply.
