Ati X800 stock cooler question

Does anyone know where I could buy the stock cooler for an Ati x800 pro (AGP) at. I would buy an aftermarket one but, I own a shuttle and most of them won�t fit my case. The heat sink itself is fine; all I really need is the fan. I am willing to RMA it as a last resort. I�ve tried eBay and a few online stores but, no luck. i have the stock cooler off my x800xl agp if that will work for you.......

Well according to this pic ( http://www.driverheaven.net/reviews/x800xl/ ) the coolers look the same visually. I actually just need the fan but, I will take the enire cooler off your hands. Can you tell how many screws the fan uses to mount onto the heatsink? If you want get rid of it contact me at email reachmrlim(at)hotmail.com .

If anyone still know a place to buy the stock coolers or just replacement fans let me know, I could still use a backup just in case.

yes i would have also reccomended an ati silencer,but he said he has a shuttle and i bet a 95% chance it wont fit in there lol,ill look at those screws this afternoon for you section

Are you sure the fan is dead? You could try the oil trick on it to revive it.

Aiieeee! I'm tellin you man, oil ain't good for those things. . .they may run quieter, but I bet they run much slower and less effectively than they are supposed to. . .

Again, if you use thin lubricant its fine. What do you think is in there in the first place to stop the bearing rubbing up on the shaft?

Beats me. What do you think is in there? Are you sure its petrol-based lube? What if it's teflon coating, silicone or lithium grease, or no lube at all? What if it is a sleeved bearing made out of material that dissolves in oil?

It's foolish to risk a video card over unwillingness to swap out an inexpensive part, and the only one getting 'tricked' by the 'oil trick' is the oiler.

P.S. HERE is a guy who oiled all his fans. . .you can see by his numbers that his fan RPMs dropped across the board. You can bet a worn-out fan would be slowed down much more.

Yeah but that's because the fan got to the point of dying in the first place, the metal shaft lost alot of its magnetic properties probably.

I've used sewing machine oil and it seems very compatible, and in my experience, using a light weight non abrasive lubircant in there isn't harmful and can help you last between HSF changes.

BTW that guy used cutting oil which for a fact will not work and cause damage

Thanks for all the suggestions and replies everyone. Sorry I didn't respond soon but, school has kept me pretty busy. I'm actually using oil designed for RC car servo bearings (from my racing days). It has in fact reduced some of the vibration coming from the fan. I think this will be a solution for a while but, eventually the fan will have to be replaced due to normal wear.
