Guitar Rig 2 demo help

Having major problems with Guitar Rig 2 demo- I can run it in standalone mode, no problem, but if I place the VST plugin in my Logic folder, logic crashes on load up. Also, if I enable it as a DX plugin, I can add it to a track and save as long as I don't load a preset. If I load a preset, the next time I open the saved file, it crashes logic audio. Specs are:

Windows XP SP2
SB Live! Platinum
KX driver version 3538i- same results with 3537
usign 128 samples for ASIO latency, 16 bit 48khz, 16 in/out

I've set the guitar rig 2 configuration to use 48khz sample rate, as well as the logic file I've saved out as using the DX plugin.

All other VST/DX plugins run great on this box- this is doing my head in! Hoping this is a KX problem- maybe I need to install creative drivers and use ASIO4All?

Any insight is appreciated- I'm thinking it's a problem with the "tape deck" in guitar rig 2? I've disabled all of the controller ports in guitar rig, also.
