VST System Link & kx drivers

Hi, I'm trying to configure VST System Link in Cubase VST32 v5.2, but there is NOT alot of info on this subject on the web.

I'm using a stationary E-mu APS soundcard with the kx ASIO drivers, and M-audio Audiophile on a laptop. Audio is routed between both computers with SPDIF, and works fine. ASIO is configurated in the kx-DSP so that I can route sound to different physical outputs on the APS soundcard, and also works fine. But I'm not sure if I've routed ASIO correctly to use System Link... So far I've only discovered that Cubase crashes when I check "Active" in the System Link panel...

Does ANYONE have any experience with VST System Link, and can share a success-story or some competence? I feel ALONE with this problem, but I can't be the only one who has been interested in the System Link solution.

- Are there any good forums/sites/resources for VST System Link on the web? (I havent found them)
- Any experience with System Link and the kx-drivers?
- Anyone with better luck with Cubase SX and System Link?
- Steinberg recommends 32-bit drivers.... but where to find them? I think the kx-driver is a 24-bit driver, while Steinbergs ASIO Multimedia driver is only 16-bit. What alternative 32-bit ASIO-drivers are there anyway?

Help will be MUCH apprecciated!
Best regards, Gysken

The problem is not the kX-driver itself, but the 10kX-chip on creative and emu-cards - it do not provide bit to bit copying via SPDIF, that is essentially for using the VST-Link. On professional cards with this feature and a driver that supports it, the VST link works like said in the cubase online help file.

Thanx for your reply.

... you are absolutely shure that System Link is not possible on APS? What a dissapointment... :-(

But what about midi sync? Is it possible to (midi) sync cubase vst32 to the external Audiophile card? Then I could at least use both soundcards simultaniously.

Best regards, Gysken

MIDI sync *should* work but only via real MIDI connection or virtual MIDI cable (like MIDI-YOKE), not via the VST-Link. It doesn´t work in any way with 10kX cards (afaik).

Not sure if this will help, but check out FX Teleport here: http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/FXTeleport/

Friend said he had great results with it.
