ASIO and Analog Recording Gain?

How do I get Analog Recording Gain working with ASIO?

I need it for recording since I'm "financially challenged" so I don't have external preamps. I use the analog recording gain slider to get the mic input at decent levels (the 20db boost and turning the slider all the way up isn't enough apparently). However, with this setup I can only record with MME. The Analog Recording Gain doesn't seem to work with kX ASIO so I don't get high enough levels.

Currently I'm using the default kX DSP but I added Src: Mic In -> Asio and this at least seems to work with Guitar Rig when I have a guitar connected into the Mic in (actually I use Line in for that, but with the same setup). But when I have a mic (Sennheiser E609, micing a guitar cabinet) connected and using Kristal Audio Engine for recording the level is too low.

So what component or what routing would I need to get Analog Recording Gain to work with ASIO as well?

Say for instance you want a gain in the Mic in signal, just load a Gain instance and connected the SRC output to the gain, then connect the gain output to whereever it was going before u disconnected the virtual wires to insert the gain plug in.

i think he means the analog gain of the ac97 codec

connecting the AC97 codec inputs directly to the ASIO inputs should work

As an alternative to what dj suggested;
Use the latest ProFX 'ADC' plugin. (3538 only)
It offers all Analog inputs and associated Analog Recording Gains in one plugin
without having to leave the DSP window.
Just connect it the way you did; ADC->ASIO

I tried adding the gain plugin but it doesn't seem to work, same thing with connecting AC97 directly to Asio. I guess I'll have to give the 3538 drivers a go.

You have to update anyway if you want to use the new ProFX (like mentioned before). Check the ProFX Thread in DSP-Forum for more information. And before you update, check the 3538 update guide!!! Installation will fail if you skip a installation step (It´s a bit more complicated due to many beta versions that are dependent of each other).

Installed the 3558 drivers and now for some reason analog recording gain etc. works with the default settings - just prolog AC97 L/R -> epilog asio0 & asio1. With the previous version I think I needed the Src: Line in -> Asio to get it working with Guitar Rig and recording software.

Oh well, this makes it simpler and above all else I don't have to go buy some cheap mixer or preamp to boost the levels.
