Recording Without Playback
I have been running several programs to try to overcome an obstavle that I have. I would like to be able to take tracks that are already recorded in both audio and midi format and record in another track. I can get everything working as far as actually playing back everything I want to hear and getting my guitar signal through Gitar Rig, however, I cannot get just the guitar to record on the track. It always records the other tracks too.
I have tried Cakewalk Pro 9 and Adobe Audition to do multitracking and have figured out neither. I am running a Sound Blaster Audigy with my guitar going into the mic in 2. I am using ASIO to go into Guitar Rig and have disabled the output of the dry mic out so that only the processed Guitar Rig signal is getting to the multitrack applications. I have tried searching for a solution and tried adjusting settings in DSP, but I have failed to get this to work. Any suggestions are welcome including buying new software as long as it is guaranteed to work. I want to start recording a demo just for my own personal enjoyment and would love to get this to work. Thanks in advance for any help, suggestions, tips. |

Well I fixed it basically. As soon as I get some web space I can post my DSP setup incase anyone else is looking to do what I am doing. My main goals were to create a midi template of my songs, then use cakewalk to play the midi whilst I recorded the various instruments. I also did not want what I had recorded previously to be heard on the new recording but wanted to hear it. The whole process went very well as I now have 2 songs done for me demo except that I don't know how to bounce midi down to a wav file in Cakewalk Pro 9( should've used Sonar)

my DSP screenshot
Well, I finally got my screenshot.
http://pic5.picturetrail.com/VOL101/...9/91829188.jpg I have my guitar going into my Line/Mic In 2 on the front of my Audigy. Then my signal goes to the 0/1 ASIO ins. I have Guitar Rig setup for in on 0/1 ASIO and out on FXBus 14/15. All of my FXBuses go to the MX6 and are sorted there for sound playback and recording capabilities. While recording in Cakewalk I only have my FXBus 14/15 going to the recording out on the MX6 while everything is going to the main out so that it can all be heard. So far with this setup, I have not found an application that does not run as desired. If anyone else is having troubles getting a similar goal accomplished, try this out and you won't have far to go from there. |
