Too many asio outputs slowing system down

Hi,

I am a musician and I recently installed the kx project.

When I run Psycle with full asio support, I get a huge CPU load and the sound crackles really badly. I have read most of the documentation and have searched for ways to disable unused asio outputs. I don't think it is possible to do this in Psycle. Does anyone know if I can disable asio outputs in kx ?

Many thanks

Well, I took your advice and reduced the asio ins and outs to 2, hoping to solve the problem. However, as much as I appreciate the extra efficiency I have gained, it has not solved my problem.

As soon as I try changing the output back to directsound, everything runs smoothly again. (Btw, some of my compositions use soundfonts no greater than 25 mb).

I am using sblive card on winXP with 320 ram.

I wonder if it's simply a fact that I need more ram ?

I really like the kx project and I don't want to abandon it yet. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Thanks

DirectSound is no alternative solution to ASIO due to only a stereo pair of input and output capability, so try to use ASIO @ a decent latency of 10 to 20ms and tune your system to itīs best performance (deactivate unnecessary gimmics an give background tasks a higher priority). kX ASIO runs very well on slower machines like mine in the sig. Aaahh, donīt forget to switch to kX ASIO in your application and set it to 48kHz!
