no asio in xp
Was forcibly ejected from 98SE (them Microsoft bouncers, y'know) and had to start from scratch with a new XP system.
My SBLive was working great in SE with the KX WDM AND ASIO drivers, but I can't get XP to recognize ASIO at all (the WDM is working nicely). [So's I can't run my old Bitheadz Retro AS-1 ]
I'm 99% sure it's not a problem with KX, but I was hoping somebody here might have a suggestion.

oh... let me add...
acceleration's set to "full"
sample rate's set to "best"
speakers are set to "surround"
tried default settings, tried rerouting (though I'm always confused about that), etc.

Tried re-installing. Have installed, uninstalled, etc. versions 3534 and 3537. Tried removing everything, booting to safe mode then installing.
With Retro AS-1 the ASIO option doesn't show up at all;
With SpinAudio's Virtual Mixing Console it says "failed to load ASIO driver" (which probably means SpinAudio's, not the KX one);
With VSampler in standalone mode it acts like the KX driver is there but gives a big error message which seems to involve memory access then won't actually use the driver.

Yes. (Or at least to my knowledge, yes.) I had it down to not knowing I had a soundcard at all. Don't see any evidence of any creative stuff in memory or on any hardware lists.

Yes. And I appreciate the question. It may be something that simple.

Yes. I've even tried having only ASIO going out through 0 and 1, rerouting wave...
In 98SE the default worked fine, so no matter what mess I made I could put it all back to default and be fine; in XP just can't seem to locate ASIO. My assumption is that something is running off with it, but I can't find any evidence in the loaded drivers or anywhere else I know to look.
Well, gonna go have one more go at uninstall-reinstall.

Check your device name in device manager, it's been a reason of lots of problems for me:
Under device manager-> sound, video and game controllers, does it says "kx audio..." or "SbLive"?
