I posted the same question on the
Cakewalk Home Studio Froum without much luck.
I'm using an SB Live! Platinum sound card with the kxProject drivers and Home Studio 2004 XL. They were working fine until I tried to use the ASIO drivers. Now I don't get any audio. I find the kx drivers to be a little confusing when it comes to the routing. I haven't changed any of the defaults.
In HS 2004, I have the following set under
Options -> Audio... -> General:
Playback Timing Master: 1: kX ASIO kX Out 00
Record Timing Master: 1: kX ASIO kX In 00
Number of Aux Buses: 2
Number of Virtual Mains: 3
Audio Driver Bit Depth: 16 (greyed out)
Sampling Rate: 48000 Hz
File Bit Depth: 16
Buffers in Playback Queue: 2 (greyed out)
Buffer Size: 21.3 msec
On
Options -> Audio... -> General -> ASIO Panel... I have:
21.33 ms 48000Hz
CT 4620 10k1 [c000]
On
Options -> Audio... -> Advanced I have:
I/O Buffer Size (KB): 64
Driver Mode: ASIO
Regular sounds are working just fine. It's just HS that has no audio.
Something else to note: Each of my tracks have an
Out of
A (kX ASIO kX Out 00), and the
A bus has an
Out of
kX ASIO kX Out 00.
If I go to
Options -> Audio... -> Advanced and change the
Driver Mode to
WDM/KS and then restart Cakewalk, I get the message for testing my hardware. The audio works fine, and down at the very bottom of the HS window, it says
Audio Running in green.
However, if I insead select
Driver Mode ASIO and then restart HS, it does not test my hardware. The audio does not work, and at the very bottom of the HS window where it said
Audio Running before, it now is totally blank, or it sometimes says
Audio Stopped in red.
I've been looking into this further, and I found something else interesting. If I deleted the
AUD.ini file in the HS program directory and then start up HS, I get the following error message before the little HS splash logo shows up:
Quote:
Audio Engine
The default audio format is not compatible with one or more sound cards. It has been reset to 48000 Hz (16 bit), as suggested by the driver.

Has anyone successfully set up the ASIO kx drivers with Home Studio?
Is there something I should be setting in the kX settings to hear the audio?
