Cubase 5 latency with Midi-Input
Hi !
First I tried to use my soundcard (Zoltrix Nightingale, C-media chip) for Midi-Input with my external Keyboard (Yamaha); the latency was terribly high making this soundcard useless for my purpose: I want to play my keyboard, listen to it and use Cubase instruments/effects.
Fortunately I heard about the kxproject and found an old soundblaster live in my cellar. I have installed the kx-driver and connected my keyboard to it. Setup was no problem, no errors occured. I selected the kx-asio driver in Cubase's "Audio System Setup", changed the latency of the kx-driver to 10ms. But still there is a delay between the time I press a key on my Keyboard and the time I can hear the sound.
Btw: my speakers are still connected (via SPDIF/Optical) to the Zoltrix-Soundcard.
Do I have to connect my speakers to the soundblasterLive? If yes, how do I have to configure this in the software. I did not get a "midi-sound" out of the soundblaster.
My system: Pentium IV 1,5 Ghz, 512Mb RAM, Windows XP, Cubase 5.1
Thanks in advance for your help.
