Recording guitar in logic, but always hear clean signal

I'm trying to record guitar in logic 5.5 and I've setup logic correctly so that I do get a signal in and can apply effects and such. The problem is, I hear the clean signal mixed in(even when logic is not running, i.e., this would be the same situation as recording using a mic, but always hearing yourself as you record). I've tried to turn off several volume controls dealing with AC97, but the ones that do seems to disable the bouncing of the input to the output turns off the input completely. I'm using a fresh install of KX and have only modified the asio latency settings.

Oh, one more issue I have is with the sampling rate... seems that when I load up some audio file in logic that I believe was recorded at 44khz then play it, it plays out of pitch. The asio drivers is setup at 48khz and so is logic... when I try to change them I start getting error messages(like asio driver doesn't work at 44khz or something). Anyways...

Thanks, Jon

in kx DSP window, disconnect the necessary wires between prolog and routing. This way you'll send audio only to ASIO (epilog). Beware now you'll hear everything with twice the latency you set in ASIO.

EDIT: For the second, import your file into arrangement, double clck on the audio region and then control+shift+C or Factory>sample rate convert. Then choose 48 as the destination.

Or you can set the sample rate for the song to 44100 from the beginning and logic will do realtime sample rate conversion to/from 48000 while recording and playback. Not to raise a controversy but i Think cubase can't do that...
