Cubase SX and kx drivers (external sync)
Hello
I'm new with kx drivers for my Sounblaster Live! 5.1 Platinum and I think that they sound better than creative's drivers (excuse my English if they 're not correct!).
Actually, I'm writing this thread 'cause I goy a problem with Cubase SX. I had this problem discussed in the forum about line in and it was fixed after setting the rate at 48Khz. But now, when I try to make a new audio project the following message comes up: "Samplerate could not be set. This may be due to the sampleclock being set to external sync", and I can't record anything. Any help?

Hi!
Somewhere in your cubase is an external clock enabled. Look under audio/system: sample clock must set to internal (i.e. cubase creates the sample timing). 2nd: in the transport-bar is right below the play-knob a little knob called sync; doubleclick it and check the settings inside. There should nowhere an "external" to be read. All should set to internal. The external options are only for external soundcards or clock-generators to syncronize cubase from the outside. This is not useful with internal cards.
Don´t forget to overwrite the song Def.all (when it´s edited) in the cubase system-directory (and make a safe-copy of it). Otherwise the same error is present if you make a new song later.
Good luck!

Just make a new template with 48khz enabled and the message will go away. If you can't record anything either you have not set up KX DSP correct, or you haven't enabled 48khz in KX ASIO panel or you're using version 3533 of the drivers (which gave problems with cubase). Make sure you have latest version.

Unfortunately nothing happened. The sync is set to internal and the kx asio drivers are set to 48KHz. I think the problem is somewhere in the DSP settings but I can't find it. Any suggestions? Maybe a ready profile? The default setting doesn't work.

Hi!
No, the DSP is innocent about this error message. If you start your cubase and a new song opens - is there the message appearing instantly?

Yes. The message appears instantly. And it appears in both cases: when I try to make a new project and even when I try to open an already recorded song.

Hi!
That´s strange... if you all made, what we have suggested - normally it should work. As I used kx at the first time I also got the message, but after setted the whole program to 48kHz (ASIO + Def.all) the message was gone forever... Maybe it´s helpful to ask your question in the cubase forum @ steinberg.net. Or look into your system about something you´ve forgotten.
Have luck!

same problem
Hi,
I'm Riccardo and I've got the same problem with internal clock.
Have you solved it?
Please help me.
In all the option 48 KHz is set correctly, when I try to turn Kx Driver to 44.100 KHz the message do not appear.

are you really sure that you saved a template for that?
the way it works for me:
open a blank project, from project settings, set samplerate to 48. and to hear sound from your input you "must" select inputs 5/6 from vst inputs(assuming you have the latest stable release whose inputs are linked to 5/6).
set kx Asio as your driver and click "save as template" from file menu and name it. then close your project.
say file --> new and select your previously saved template. it will complain about samplerate. just ignore it go to project settings and set 48 as samplerate AGAIN(this is the trick, the bug, it will seem selected but do it anyways). and save this project as template with the same name(replace it).
after all when you say file-->new and select your twice saved template, you should have no problems at all. and of course you should always work within this template. tell if it works.

If you are having problems getting Cubase to read the input from your LineIn then you seem to be having the same problem I had. It's not actually got anything to do with the error message saying the sample rate can't be set, that's simply an inconvenience.
The way I finally overcame this problem was to use the latest stable release of the drivers, but to completely clear the DSP and rebuild it as per this article. (You won't find xsumm_r or xsumm_c in the list of effects you can add, just add 2 xsumm effects and rename them appropriately - had me confused for a minute or two!).
From what I understand, this shouldn't make any difference, but it sorted the problem out for me perfectly so perhaps there is a bug in one of the newer effects used in the newer drivers.
Hope this helps,
Dave
