SB Live! 5.1 and Spinaudio FX processor LE
Hi all,
Having recently downloaded the kx driver, I am having problems with the ASIO inputs and outputs.
What I'd like to do is be able to plug in a guitar (to the mic input), load the Amplitube plugin into Spin Audio's ASIO FX processor LE, and be able to play through the computer.
That's all I need to do. And I'm an extreme newbie at this. Sometimes when i start Spin Audio, I can get the speakers to feedback, but that's about it. At one point I had the input registering on the vu meter of Amplitube, but there was no output.
Any help anyone can give me on how to set this up will be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks-

What version of KX drivers are you using? Where is your guitar plugged into (line in at back of sound card or one of the livedrive's input?). Answer this and I'll tell you how to setup SpinAudio.

Thank you!
I downloaded the kx driver yesterday, and the version number on the site was 5.10.0.3533 .
The mic input is the one on the breakout box, in the front.
I believe I've installed the driver correctly. And I'm using Windows XP home edition if that matters at all.
I really appreciate any help you can give me.

I have the same problem here.
I've read that all we need is to do in th DSP: plug the soundcard entry into an asio input, then plug the modified output in the Fx bus then to the routing.
I can't figure out where is the altered output in the DSP panel
thanks for any help

Ok, I'll try to help...
1) Go into KX mixer and make sure the input you have your guitar pluged in is not muted and has the volume turned full up.
2) Go into KX DSP and take a look at the PROLOG element. If you pass your mouse over the outputs (little squares in the right of PROLOG) you'll be able to see which ones is outputing which phisycal input in your card. If you're using the MIC input in the LIVE DRIVE, the signal is coming out at IN8 and IN9 (MIC2/LINE2). Check that those connectors have a virtual wire which is connecting them to some ASIO inputs (they're located in the EPILOG). MIC2 is by default connected to ASIO 8 and 9. If it's not connected, connect them!
3) Open SpinAudio.
4) Let it scan for your VST plugins (if you haven't done that yet...)
5) Go to OPTIONS, APPLICATON SETTINGS
6) In the ASIO DRIVER tab, choose KX ASIO and set the sample rate to 48000. Click in APPLY. Click in SHOW DRIVER CONTROL PANEL. Set your latency to 10ms or less. If you later hear audible clicks, come back here and increase this value. Click APPLY again.
7) Click OK.
8) Now, choose SETUP, SETTINGS.
9) In the AUDIO IO tab choose STEREO TO STEREO (or adjust it to your taste) and in the SELECT INPUT CHANNEL window, choose the ASIO inputs 8 and 9 (if those are the one's your mic input - in the card - are connected - in KX DSP window, as I explained before).
10) Click OK.
11) Go into PLUGINS, choose your preferred pluging, click in START and rock'n'roll!!!
12) If you're hearing DOUBLE sounds (processed signal + spinaudio processed signal) you may want to disconnect the PROLOGS outputs 8 and 9 from the ROUTING element (but not from the EPILOG!!!).
Tell me if this worked out ok for you.

Ok, my answer was to shuteye. Ido, its the same for you, except that you may have your guitar plugged somehwere else, instead of a live drive... So, the number 8 and 9 will change according to the input you're using (for instance, if you are using the input in the back of the card, choose 0 and 1, and choose LINE IN as the recording source in the AC97 page of KX mixer)...

Thanks much Daniel.
Now I have MIC2/LINE2 left and right (prolog in8 and in9) connected to the epilog (asio10 and asio 11). I've disconnected all prolog ports from the xrouting.
So in spinaudio (running with amplitube) I see the input vu meter working just fine, but there is no output. I've tried the settings in spinaudio for each set of asio outs, to no avail. There's obviously sound going into spinaudio, but I can't get anything to come out.
Thanks for your help, though.

Check what are the ASIO OUT outputs that spinaudio is using. If it's using outputs 1 and 2 (or 0 and 1) make sure you have the FXBUS respective connectors plugged into Xrouting. Also, check in the back of your soundcard if you have your speakers plugged in the correct output (or try connecting them to another one while playing to see if you can get any sound...
