Hi. Im using a Sblive!Value card. even after install of the KX drivers (Win XP) im not being able to activate direct monitoring in my VST (nuendo/SX) application. any help for the same would be appreciated. Also, Could someone tell me how to activate DMA mode for my Hard drives in XP ?

I have a weak comp. P3 500, 256RAM. But Nuendo on Win ME works perfect.. however, on XP it constantly gives loud glitches... whil playnig bak an audio data???

Thank You.

I've had the same problem all day, but I think I've just discovered the solution!

Ok, first of all, I'm not sure about Cubase so let's forget about that for a second.

To enable direct monitoring with a SB Value card it's just a case of juggling with the speaker outputs at the back end of your computer.

So, here's what to do...

* Plug your guitar or mic or whatever into the PINK input socket on your SB Value card.

* Ok, now on the back of your card you have two speaker output sockets- a green and a black one. If you want to be able to play your guitar and hear it coming out of the speakers live, use the GREEN one. If you want to listen to what you've just recorded, switch to the BLACK one.

I know it's silly, but it works for me.

If we want the luxury of being able to have playback and monitoring without doing any cable juggling then I think we'll need to get more speakers.

Let me know how you get on.

Ok. If you can't get it going, let me know your exact set up and I'll try and talk you through things as best as I can.

Ok, I'll have a look at that FAQ in a second.

But can I just ask while I've got your attention...

in my case I'm CONSTANTLY juggling with the sockets at the back of my computer when I'm using the KX drivers on Cubase (version 4).

If I want to record (let's say) me playing guitar then I have to connect my speaker to the green socket on the back of my SB Value card. But if I want to play back what's already on Cubase I need to switch the speaker socket to the black output socket (on the back of the soundcard).

Could you please tell me if there's a way to have it so that everything comes out of the same speaker output?

Thanks!

sure dude...
now lets.. the first prob is that i dont have my home machine right now.. so ill have to imagine everything.

lets go step by step.

sourse -> line in ; of your SbLive!

Main speakers -> Rear output

extra speaker -> front out

Now, open your kx mixer and go to the main page.... over there there is a option called toggle front and rear speaker. enable it. (when enabled there will be a kinda v in the circle)

go to the next page (think thats i/O)

Enable AC97 (AC97 is the AD conversion) increase volume.

Go to the AC97 page and select Stero as the AC97 source. Unmute Line in and increase volume.

so thats done... now we need to route.

in the DSP (thats wehre all the lines are right ?)

remove all cables (right clik;dissable)

from the prolouge... take in0 and in1; pull to ASIO 0 and 1 in epilouge.

From the fx bus router, take Fx 0 and 1 ; pull to somewhere in the router... (that somewhere are the two red connectors , just below where the right blue connectors end, forgot what they were called.)

the ASIO 0 and 1 are by default routed to FX bus 0 and 1.]

In ure VST application.. select input sourse as in0 in1. Input monitor and u should be rokkin and rollin too... do select 5ms latency.. awwwsome.

lemme know... else we kan compare notes...
