i got a wierd problem..

i got sb live 5.1 + win xp + kx 3537
and my rear analog out playing the line-in sound no matter what..

some stuff i tried :
1.delete everything on the dsp router - still playing
2.mute "analog rear" in "ins and outs" - no effect
3.change "ac97" settings - only effect other outputs ( front + sub )
4.changing the "swap rear and front" - still the rear plays

its like its hardwired or something...

if i disconnect the line-in i can listen to music or whatever normally with 5.1..

can someone help me?
what can i do?

thats not the effect i want to get..
the line-in is used to get audio from cables ( i got a tv-card )..

if i mute the "kx0/linein" from the windows mixer it also doesnt mute it ( it mutes only the front + sub )
and my tv program works on the windows mixer..

Everything on the AC97 page of kxmixer controls the AC97 codec itself, thus bypassing the DSP in some cases (i.e. monitoring via the AC97 codec itself (i.e. hard wired)). In general all of the sliders on the AC97 page (except Analog Recording Gain) should be muted under normal use.

Use the AC97 slider on the Ins and Outs page to control Line In (for monitoring or ASIO recording) instead, and then it will be routed into the DSP and can be filtered by DSP plugins (also make sure that the AC97 recording source is set to Line In on the AC97 page of kxmixer, but leave the Line In slider muted).

The other option is to leave the AC97 slider on the Ins and Outs page of kxmixer muted, and only use the Line In slider on the AC97 page of kxmixer for listening to Line In, but then you cannot filter it in the DSP (i.e. it will not be effected by the Master Volume slider, etc) and you will only hear it from one pair of speakers (i.e. no upmixing, etc).

russ i didnt understand what u ment exactly so ill explain my problem again

my tv cable audio is connected to the card via line-in input
when i see tv the tv app unmute the "kx0/line-in" and i can hear the stuff also through the front and sub
when i dont see tv the app just mutes it

the problem is that the rear doesnt respond to this
mute/unmute doesnt effect it
and if i got my rear connected it just play the tv loudly ( even if i dont see tv = line-in muted )

on the kx drivers :
ac97 - on stereomix ( but it doesnt matter if i put it on line-in.. )
all muted except linein
in's and out's - ac97 on 100 ( if i mute it the rear still plays the line-in )
analog rear - on 12 but when linein is connected even with mute it plays..

i just want to route the rear through the same input as the front and sub
i dont see what im doing wrong..

even with master volume on mute its playing the same..
i can shut them up till i power off their amp..

1) do not use windows mixer - use *only* kX mixer. Windows mixer may 'connect' to some sliders in kX mixer.
2) what slider in kX mixer changes when you run / quit the TV application?
3) is there some reason you posted this in the ASIO forum?, does your TV card use ASIO?

1.my tv program ( dscaler ) can only use the windows mixer..
2."kx0/linein" - on windows mixer , "ac97 in" on "in's and out's" - on kx mixer
3.actually no , when u asked me i actually realized there is a dsp forum hehe - so sorry and admins if u can move it to the right forum ill be happy

This does make a difference, the AC97 source needs to be Line In, AND the Line In slider (on the AC97 page) needs to be muted.

what is the difference if i put line-in or stereomix?
cuz i also use mic-in sometimes so i would have to change it when i want to record a mic
or is there something to combine mic-in and line-in ( maybe in the dsp? )

It is hard to explain if you do not understand about the AC97 codec. The AC97 codec has its own mixer. The default output path for this mixer is the analog front speakers, which is usually enabled by default. Your typical (non DSP) sound card uses this in order to monitor AC97 sources (Line In, MIC In, etc). The sliders on the bottom of the AC97 page of kxmixer mute/unmute the path between the AC97 inputs and this mixer (AC97 mixer), and thus when it is enabled, the audio from these sources is sent directly to the analog front speakers (it does not go through the DSP).

BTW: I am guessing that you have your rear speaker plugged into the analog front jack, so in your case it would be analog rear.

In order to get the audio from these sources into the DSP, they need to be converted from analog to digital. To do this, these signals needed to be *recorded* through the ADC of the card. This is why you need to select a recording source in the AC97 drop down box (in order to get the signal into the DSP). However, if you choose Stereo/Mono mix, you are setting the recording source to be the AC97 mixer (which again, has its output automatically sent to analog front), so what happens now is that any inputs that have their pathway enabled to the AC97 mixer, will be sent directly to the analog front speakers, AND will be recorded by the ADC and routed into the DSP (and likely to the DAC and then to the speakers, so you end up with 2 different versions of the signal being sent to the analog front speakers at the same time, if you mute one, the other one is still there)).

Note that you generally do not have control over the Volume-Mute controls to the right of the AC97 mixer in the diagram (without manually modifying the AC97 registers), nor the Volume-Mute controls between the DAC and the AC97 mixer (these are not muted by default). The Volume-Mute controls that you see after Line In, MIC In, etc, are the sliders on the AC97 page of kxmixer, and the Volume-Mute control after Record Select is the Recording Gain slider on the AC97 page of kxmixer (and Record Select is the AC97 recording source selection drop down). DSP input is on the right, and DSP output on the left, and of course routing within the DSP would depend on your DSP config.

Take a look at the diagram and see if it helps you to understand what is happening behind the scenes (within the AC97 codec).

so is there anyway of controlling the ac97 adc inputs through the dsp or something or i stuck with the combobox on the driver?
i want to connect both mic + line-in in the same time?
will it effect the delay or sound quality or something else?

Your choices are somewhat limited because you have only one ADC (unless you have a LiveDrive).

Nothing is going to give you an easy way to do it, that will work the way you want with your TV software.

Specifically, why do you need both at the same time?
