While I never tried...
try this..
In APP1 - only assign/enable ASIO channels 0-7
in APP2 - only assign/enable ASIO channels 8-15
The point, is don't enable all ASIO channels in both apps, what ever is enabled in one app, dis-able in the other app.
Also, try enabling 'Driver Compatibility - SMT/HT Optimizations' in kX settings - maybe that will have some affect. (??)
Another thing I notice, in Sonar - there is an option 'Share device Driver with other programs' - but.. when enabled, simply allows 'sharing' when sonar is not in focus..
So, I can't imagine how that would work.
Maybe that would work?? Sorry thats all I can think of, if it is at all possible, this maybe is how.
Are you sure you didn't use a 'VST' version of what ever second application you are remembering (Guitar Rig and Cubase for instance, guitar rig has a VST and stand alone application - or Sonar and Reason - using REWIRE not VST.. ??)
- because I didn't think sharing is possible (other than *possibly* my first suggestion, of making sure Individual ASIO Channels are not enabled in both apps at same time)
WDM drive model maybe - as I believe they are 'multi-client' in nature. But I would be surprised if ASIO is 'multi-client', from the option found in Sonar I mentioned alone, makes me think this is not otherwise possible.
