Asio routing problem

Hi everybody. I've been using kx drivers for several years with my creative live! 5.1 card, and it is the best piece of software(especially driver) i have came across. I'am no begginer with drivers, but i am with asio. I have downloaded Console application which is host for VST plugins, which i want to use for some experimenting with speakers. When i choose in console application ASIO(and in my music player app), application gives me input and output windows(very similar to Kx dsp plugins, same graphic representation) with 16 channels. In between i can input VST plugins, and connect them with lines. Problem is that regardless of connecting, or manipulating with VST plugins-and even when input is not connected to output, i have sound. Long story short, how can i bypass something that is sending music directly to output, and redirect it through this application? Thanks

It would be helpful if you posted a screen shot of your DSP config, and let us know which audio sources you are sending to the host.

If you are using the default DSP, then you probably just need to disconnect the connections between prolog and xrouting (disconnect at the xrouting end, so that the connections to epilog remain).

Thanks for quick answer. Forgot to write, drivers are 5,10,00,3538, and i am using xp sp2. I am sending music from j.river media center program. I have selected asio output mode there and conversion to 48kHz sample rate. When i adjust wave volume, sound volume remains the same, and when adjusting main volume it changes. Here is a picture of dsp( http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/8099/dspti3.gif ) with now disconnected links between prolog and xrouting. Again i have sound all the time when i play music from media center, regardless of that console program ( http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/7434/consolemw5.gif ) (two boxes representing inputs and outputs, in between come vst plugins). I must somehow redirect sound through the console.

I do not think that is going to work for you, as you cannot have two programs using kX ASIO at the same time. You would have to use the kX Wave driver in j.river media center.

Note: kX Wave Devices and ASIO channels match up one to one with FxBus' numbering.

Depending on which wave device you choose, you will want to disconnect it's associated FxBus channels from xrouting and connect it directly to the ASIO inputs on epilog (I would use ASIO 4/5 with that card model). Then in Console make sure you choose an ASIO output that differs from the kX Wave Device you choose (i.e. FxBus used).

i.e.
Choose kX Wave 4/5 as the output device in j.river media center.
Disconnect FxBus 4/5 from xrouting and connect it directly to ASIO 4/5 on epilog.
Choose ASIO 4/5 for input in Console, and choose ASIO 0/1 for output.

Thank you Russ very much, it really helped me a lot! I didn't know that all asio outputs are connected to analog outputs of the card the same way as analog channels in epilog, and that kept confusing me. Now i can finally build ultimate crossovers for my loudspeakers. I use this card for 6 years now,and wanted to change it (sound quality), but Kx drivers are so good i don't want to. I will look at some audigy models that work with Kx. Thanks again! Best regards, Mihailo, Serbia

Glad I could help

Some things to keep in mind when making custom DSP configs:

ASIO outputs (all software audio sources) enter the DSP via FxBus.

xrouting routes anything connected to it, to the speakers (with the default DSP config (or similar config)).
xrouting info
