I got this the sb platinum live 5.1 off my dad, as i want to do some multitrack recording using it. The only problem is i can't get it to work.
The card adn drive appear to work fine, except i can't seem to get any input at all. according to the actualy hardware The live drive is model number: sb0010 The pci card number: can't tell atm, if its really needed i'll get the card out and see but as its in ashuttle, i can't see the number easilly. for some reaeson sb0060 springs to mind, but i may be wrong. I'm using adobe audition 2.0 I think for some reason the driver thinks the inputs are outputs, beacuse when i plug a mic into "mic in 2" on the livedrive, i can hear a pop, like when you plug speakers into speaker ports. Thanks for your help in advance Cheers Chris |

For MME recording:
Unmute the Line2/Mic2 slider on the Recording page of kxmixer and adjust the level as desired. For ASIO Recording: Unmute the Line2/Mic2 slider on the Ins and Outs page of kxmixer and adjust the level as desired. Connect the Line2/Mic2 pins of prolog (in the DSP), to the the ASIO pins on epilog that you want to use for recording (I would start with ASIO 4/5, as ASIO 1/2 are not available with 5.1 models). Search the forum for info about the ASIO Mapping Issue. |

Thanks- i've figured out the mapping issue now, but even with the pins on the prolog going straight to the working asio pins... i'm not getting any reading in Audition, whereas using the wave generator i do. I'm kinda stumped how to fix it

Use a peak plugin in the DSP to verify that you are getting a signal out of prolog.

btw: Make sure that the jumper is correct - depending on if you are trying to use a dynamic mic or a condenser mic - look that up in the online PDF at CL website. The jumper shouldn't matter if using LINE mode.

hmmm.... put a peak on every output on prolog and opened tehm all up, i'm getting a signal on AC97, but that is it, and that is there even without my input( Mp3 player) pluged in, i have tried hte mp3 player in every socket on the card and the live drive, nothing on the peak meters
edit: tried again, when i plug it into the pink socket AC97 peaks.... Cheers Chris Last edited by cpharding; Mar 26, 2007 at 06:56 PM. |

When using the AC97 sockets, you need to select which source to use on the AC97 page of kxmixer (the AC97 Source selection combo-box). If you get a signal when connected to the pink socket, the AC97 source is probably set to MIC (for the blue socket, change it to Line In).
However, the LiveDrive inputs should work, as long as the Line2/Mic2 slider on the Ins and Outs page of kxmixer is not muted, and the volume is set to an audible level. So, as Maddogg6 stated, verify any jumper settings, and the connections from the LiveDrive to the sound card (I do not have a LiveDrive so I cannot offer much help with that), and verify that any knobs on the LiveDrive are set properly, for whichever input you are trying to use, etc. |

In my Livedrive (its a LiveDriveII btw) - theres only 1 jumper - and its either ON or OFF - depending if you intend to use a dynamic or condenser microphone.
Quote:
For 'line in' Mode (Turn pot clicked 'OFF') - this jumper shouldn't make any difference. If you can, try use AUX 2 input instead - the RCA jacks - and eliminate any settings for Line 2/Mic 2 for your problem. Use the 'AUX 2' level/sliders and mute on the KX Mixer 'Ins & Outs' page instead of 'LINE 2' And check for level out of prolog. Do LiveDrive headphone outputs work? Is ANY thing working associated with the live drive (IR remote, SPDIF in/out etc..) Quote:
Windows sounds works? Somethings not making sense here... if it 'works' and the LD is detected in your 'about' screen (good idea to post that info btw) - then you should have seen levels on prolog when you unmute and adjust levels on those inputs on kX mixer 'Ins & Outs Page'. Is the cable your using known to be correct and functional? Is the device supplying signal (MP3 player??) known to be functional? |

on my livedrive there are 4 differnt sets of jumpers. but i can't find any documentation on which does what, so i've left them as they were.
i've been trying both the line in2 on the live drive the microphone, adn teh aux as well, but no luck with any of them I don't have the remote as it is still at my dad's somewhere( he lost it) so i can't check that, and i don't have any SPDIF cables... For the record, i don't know if this changes anything, but i still have my onboard sound enabled. The headphone socket works if i'm putting audio in through a line in on the back sockets, but i've changed the DSP now to try and get ASIO working, i'm not too concerned with any output from the card, as its not my primary. I have been able to play music through it though, so i do know the outputs work. The MP3 player is definatly working, and when plugged into the same device that AC97 is set to record, i get a change on the AC97 output. Kx wave does show up in audio lists, yes, i've had no blue screens. here is the stuff under about... ----Hardware / Software configuration--------------- Driver Name:kX Audio Driver (Debug) Driver Date: Aug 18 2003 18:56:52 Driver Version: 5.10.00.3534 - debug DB Name:LiveBay2 SB0060 5.1 [a400] PCI Information: Device: 21102 Subsys: 80611102 ChipRev: 7 Card has MPU device Card model is '5.1' Card HAS AC97 codec Codec name: SigmaTel STAC9708 3D Extension: SigmaTel 3D Enhancement Codec is 2.0 compliant Capabilities[6940] : DAC resolutions : -16-bit- -18-bit- ADC resolutions : -16-bit- -18-bit- Ext Capabilities [80]: -PCM surround DAC- Port: a400 Irq: 9 Playback buffer: 20a0 Record buffer: 4000 Number of AC3 buffers: 4 Tank memory: 256 kb GSIF buffer: 256 samples OS version: [2 5 1 Service Pack 2; 2 5 1 Service Pack 2; 156 148] |

Hmm, both mine and yours show up as 'LiveBay2' but I only have 1, labeled 'JP1' - there are other connectors on the board that may be mistaken as 'jumpers' but are not jumpers at all.
Reguardless - if AUX2 isnt working either - Im lost if your SURE you unmute and adjusted ALL INPUTS levels on the kxMixer Ins and Outs page - and nothing comes out of prolog except AC97... ?? I guess use AC97 input seeing as it is working... ?? Good luck |

those helped thanks, my jumpers are the same as the ones listed there, there is no mention of jumper 8 on those though, the header isn't actually on the boards in the pictures.. hmm stranger and stranger, because i have a jumper 8, a three pin header between 9 and 7

Yours might not match the one in the picture exactly, as that one is the Audigy version.
Yours appears to be the LiveDrive3. I recall someone else having a similar problem with the SB Live! Platinum 5.1, so I wonder if this drivebay is not fully supported by kX (or maybe it is mis-detected or something). i.e. sigh..headaches/ line2 livedrive You might try contacting Eugene to verify if it is supported by kX, etc. BTW: Did you ever try it with the Creative Labs driver? Thanks, i did muck around with the creative driver, but when i realised i couldn't multitrack record i started looking for an alternative, and found this, so i didn't have time to fully test the card before i uninstalled the creative driver, i might try putting it back on temporelly.
I'll drop Eugene an email, thanks EDIT- do i just use the contact link in the menu on the kX page? or is there another email adress somewhere for him? thanks Cheers Chris |

Re: Help with sb platinum live + live drive
Ok, I apologize , I know this is old. But I have a sb0010 Live drive IR and cannot find any of the right info on it. From the picture in the LiveDrive 3 manual, it seems like this is what I have, except there is no jp1 to switch to dynamic microphone. I have a dynamic microphone and want to get it to recogize. Everything else is working, so far as I can tell.

Re: Help with sb platinum live + live drive
One of the Live! Drives appears to use jumper C85 instead of JP1.
