Hi ya all - A very simple (dumb?) question
Hallo everybody,
I'm new in this forum and relatively new in the wintel world: I used to go with apple machines for a long time and now here I am in the opposite side of CPUs.
My sincere compliments for the developing group of theese fantastic drivers.
So, about the question: is there a way to run two audio programs that need Kx asio drivers? I mean, can I run Reason and V-Stack together and set for both of them Kx Asio Driver?
I tried to do so but when I set the Kx asio driver for the second program it tells me something like "to much latency or to many channels...", so for now I can only run one program at the time. I tried also with a MOTU 828 of a frien of mine and it worked flowlessy so I don't think that it is a windows limitation.
I searched an answer in the forum posts but I got a little confused (I told you I'm a novice!) so I hope some of you "gurus" can tell me if this is a limitation of the drivers (something like no support for multiclient) or there are settings that I miss to make the two programs working together.
Thanks in advance.

Well, yes, you should be able to run multiple asio output programs, but, actually, i noticed a new 3530 bug when checking to be sure...
I normally ran reason and traktor together (remixing drums), and normally, that went smooth...
but just now, I tried it, and it kina broke...
When i first started reason, then traktor, traktor played very very slow...
after killing reason, and restarting it, it went ok...
but then, after closing traktor, reason crashed...
in 3529, thisall worked flawlessly...

Thank you Mata Hari for your prompt reply, I suppose that I'm not allowed to run multiple audio programs because I currently have installed the 3528 release. I'll follow your advice and try to install 3529 and see what happens...
Once again thanks a lot, I'll post the resoults a.s.a.p..
Cheers

Well, I had no luck even with 3529 drivers.
I just upgraded the drivers and it seems to be the same old story, I start Reason I set kX asio drivers and from the control panel I set the latency to 5.33 ms, then I start V-Stack and when I try to switch from asio direct x to kX asio I get the following error message:
Error creating imput buffer #0: error = -2147084809 [size = 4096]
GetLastError()=2
E_INVALIDARG: Too big latency and too many channels -- resetting latency --
Retry?
If I hit ok it doesn't work and I'm forced to keep the asio direct x drivers with their terrible latency!!!
Any suggestion are welcome.
Cheers

ok, now I'm "watering" for some information...!!!
Can somebody tell me whether or not I can run multiple audio programs and assign them the same kX asio driver, becAuse, so far, I had very bad luck with 3528 - 3529 -3530. I mean that I can assign kX asio drivers only to the first Audio program (e.g. Reason) and when I try to set Kx asio drivers to the second application I get the following error message:
Error creating imput buffer #0: error = -2147084809 [size = 4096]
GetLastError()=2
E_INVALIDARG: Too big latency and too many channels -- resetting latency --
Retry?
And when I hit OK, it sets automatically Windows Asio Drivers.
Please just let me know if I can keep on hpoing or there is no way to run both.
Thanks in advance

Confirmed
Can confirm this with 3530 drivers, but not fully.
Tried to start Reason and then CubaseSX -> your Error occured.
After that, I tried to start CubaseSX first and then reason. This worked, Reason switched to "Rewire"-Mode and i was able to play Instruments with low latency in Reason itself, in CubaseSX and in Reason via a CubaseSX-Track assigned to reason. Both programs with kxASIO driver, in reason the checkbox "Pyay in background" enabled.

Thx HumanRes for your feedback,
unfortunatly I don't use Cubase (witch is rewire compliant).
I'm trying to run Reason and V-Stack together in order to transform my PC in a Virtual instrument gear.
If V-Stack was Rewire compliant I think it would be the end of my troubles, 'cause I could feed the audio output of reason in the rewire input of V-Stack. This way only V-Stack would be accessing Asio driver.
That's not my case and I need to run two separate programs via kX asio drivers, but than again, so far, no luck
Any other suggestion are welcome.
Thanks again.
Cheers.

Disable some asio inputs in Logic. Instead of using all 16 at the same time, enable only a couple and see what you get.

...Logic?!? Well, as I already said, I don't use any Sequencer, since I just want to make a virtual synth out of my PC. That's why I don't use Cubase/Logic/Cakewalk, I just trigger via midi Reason and V-Stack.
Having clarified that, I think Daniel is suggesting me to reduce the asio inputs. So here is the new question:
how can I reduce the number of active asio input without Logic!?!?
THX

Well, after some reinstalling, and checking... if you installed DirectX 9, try going back to DirectX 8.1... it didnt solve it 100% for me yet, but it helps I think...
(now, how to go back to DX 8.1... well... I just reinstalled evrything... :-)
If i find more time, I'm going to check out the problems I am having (wich sound verymuch like these... and it used-to-work(tm) :-) )

Thank you Mata Hari,
fortunately I'm currently running Direct X 8.1, so I din't have to face the nightmare of a brand new install of the system, anyway can you help me telling me if there is a way to reduce asio inputs via DSP kX, since I read your perfect post about asio setting with kX drivers but (you know, I'm a poor newbie ) I'm still a bit confused as to interact with it.
Bye

You can not disable asio inputs in the dsp, that is entirely done in the applications you use...
Don't know how to do that within Logic though, sorry

Latency
Have you tried raising the latency?

Yes, I did try almost any setting for the latency (from 2.33 ms to 21 ms) with no luck, that's why I don't think it's a matter of latency setting...
Anyway thanks a lot for your suggestion
Cheers
