multiple soundcard help!!
Hi I have installed a second sblive 5.1 (SB0060) running kx drivers.
My setup gave me six outputs in Cubase SX each with a separate audio track playing. My aim was to use a second card to give me 12 outputs but Cubase will only let the sound come out of one sound card or the other...is there a way around this. I have ticcked everything in the Cubase ASIO directx and multimedia setup.
Cubase only shows in its devices "ASIO master" or not connected.
Hope this makes sense

use one card as a master, and the second as a slave
select the card you have chosen as the master as cubase's interface
connect the SPDIF outputs from the AD_EXT or AUD_EXT header of the master card into the SPDIF inputs on the slave (AUD_EXT/AD_EXT and CD_SPDIF) and via the kX dsp route these directly to an output

Many thanks for the reply dj stick...are there any manuals on how to do this? And are there any sync issues with this method?

I made these text files a while back. I have been working (very slowly) towards making some web pages but haven't finished yet.
Anyway the text files explain how to set up 2 sound cards with kX. I no longer have an account with this ISP so whenever they figure out that these pages still exist, they will delete these files.

There are no sync issues because inputs are routed from the SEND card(s) to the HOST card. As far as your recording software is concerned, all the inputs come from your SEND card.

I have a setup with 3538L using ProFX and 2 Audigy cards. I also use Aux inputs for each of the Audigy cards so it is set up for 8 inputs. You could just delete the extra parts. Send me a PM if you want to try it.

I do not understand this setup. Why can I not user the digital I/O output on the bracket (=spdif ??!!) and cable it to the spdif in on the other card (in my case a coaxial). If so, how do I make the proper routing?

Hi,
I have a similar question.
I have a rig with a sblive! with kx drivers and a cmedia onboard chip.
I want to be able to record a mic and a guitar simultaneously on 2 seperate tracks in Acid pro 6.
If I chose WaveOut as the Audio Device, then the track inputs give me options from both cards (Ive not actually tested this yet, but inputs were available for both cards, so I guess I should be able to record the mic on one, and the line-in on the other ok.).
But when I chose Asio as the Audio Device, it just gives me KX Asio input ports.
Is there a way to route the "mic in" of the cmedia onboard to Acid while still using Asio?
Do I need to cable them together (I have another scard lying around to try that with, but no cables), or is there a way to do it in software only via routing etc?
Thanks.

Thats roughly what I want. I need an extra input on one of the audigy cards. So I want to link this card to my master ASIO card through the spdif digital out/inputs. One from a bracket in the computer to the input on the external box..... should be able to do this?? No need to go internal? And how about the routing? I have the cable but am unable to set it all up...
DJ.. other, pls help!!

Or even simpler for what I need.
As there is a seperate mic and line in input on the one soundcard, is it possible to route them to different Asio ports so they can be recorded as seperate tracks in Acid? Or can I only have 1 AC97 device recording.
And I tried with the onboard soundcard and in Wave mode, it still didnt work, though winamp lets me use the 2 outputs, so I dont understand why the 2 inputs dont work in Acid, when it lets me select them as inputs...

Basically - when you 'chain' 2 cards together - you are simply using 1 card (slave) as a sort of 'submix' - feeding an input on another card (master)
Just like in studios - a submixer may be 2 / 4 / 6 / 8 buss.
In KX - 1 SPDIF (aka digital) = 2 buss (stereo)
Add more card(slave) > card(master) SPDIF connections for more 'busses' between card (slave) and card (master).
You can also look at this sort of set up as - using 1 cards A/D convertors - on another card. - plus you can mix in KX Synths and use DSP Effects on those 'busses'.
hope that helps.
edit
But there are more that 1 way to connect 2 crads
Another way is to use 1 card as a 'send & receive' fx processor
Using spdif 1 in -> 2 out and vice versa -
end edit

Okay,
I have a coaxial cable linked from the digital I/O (jack) on the bracket to the spdif input (rca) on the other card.. Can you tell me what settings I have to do to get the output from the first card to the ASIO bus on the other card?
Regards,
Shinco
