Intern ASIO-Routing possible ?
Hello !
I like to route a Audio-Signal from a StandAlone-Synthesizer on my PC to another Programm (Ableton LIVE!)on the same PC to record some Chords there during a jamsession in Ableton LIVE!.
The Synthesizer is playd with a MIDI-Keyboard and normaly runs verry good with kx-ASIO.
Abl. LIVE is also running with kx-ASIO verry well
Until now i can do this routing only, when i use a MME or directSound - Driver for this Synthie and route the Audio-Out-Wave into an ASIO channel into LIVE! (DSP-window in kx)
But the Synthie under MME or DirectSound has got too high latency an crackles a bit, has got now clear sound when playd fast.
My question is : How can i use the ASIO-performance for Ableton LIVE! and the Synthesizer.
Has anybody an idea with explaination ??
Or is this not possible ?
Are there any german-speaking poeple her ?
Many thanx for your answers !

Remember that in KX DSP wndow the FXBUS are set up to output ASIO (i.e. first output equals asio 0 output). That might do the trick...

yo
you can't run two applications with asio simultaneous.
generaly, there are two possibilities.
1) use the synth as a plugin in live (vst)
2) (if there is) use the rewire function
tell us what synth u are using.
the most standalone synths can be used as plugin.
und deutsch spreche ich auch, ist aber auf einem internationalen board nicht üblich....

Errr, yes you can... (mixing with tractor, and using a redrum in reason for new drumloops, using both ASIO works like a dream here... now if only traktor had midi sync support, my life would be complete :-)
anyways, in DSP, connect FXbus 0 and 1 to the last 2 inputs on the epilog (asio recording 14 and 15)
Start both programs, in Live select asio in on channels 14/15, press record, and start playing...
Simple like that :-)
(and btw, my german aint that good in talking and writing, but i can read it perfectly :-)

At firtst : Thanks for help ! Its working great !
Mata Haris tip was the solution ! Its possible with routing the WaveOut (FXbus 0 and 1) to ASIO channels 14/15.
There is only one connection possible to channels 14/15 ,so I must break the recording for AC97
But thats no problem. I wont use both simultaneous.
And what a surprise : I can read my secret thougts in the posting from Mata Hari :
... now if only traktor had midi sync support, my life would be complete :-)
A really nice start here on board
If every solution is so easy, my english is good enaugh at all.
Nice Day .............. charlie

even if you want to use them both together, options:
the simple one:
just use another asio recording (12/13?) for ac97...
the just as simple one:
add an stereo mix plugin, add both ac97 and the asio out on the left, and let the outputs go to 14/15, tweak it, sliders up, and blow your neigbours away :-)
One small thing I am thinking of however, is that i'm not 100% sure this would be synced.
when playing on asio out, you will add latency, but the ac97 does not have that latency... so, when recording, they might be a bit out of sync.
With solution 2, this is unavoidable, but maybe, with solution 1, you can manually ajust latency with wichever program you use, on a per channel basis (if I recall correctly, samplitude and cubase can do this, but I'm not 100% sure of that)
Now, this might be a good new DSP plugin, Max, if you are reading this, is there a possibility to make a plugin wich stores a buffer for 1 buffer loop to resync channels? (or is this no issue anyways?)

>when playing on asio out, you will add latency, but the ac97 does not have that latency.
- well, i see no issues here.. ok... the trick is that there's already plugin which do the sync... and that plugin is the man e.g. you push note in sync with what you hear (e.g. you play with same latency as asio adds)... e.g. looking from supertheoretic corner it is never possible to correct all the possible latencies (for example ADC of AC97 has its own latency too, ext. synth has its own, human mind has its own etc ... So all this is ok until you don't hear that something is wrong...
well, something like that maybe...

Hmz, well... k, lets eliminate them all... can you write an DSP to plug directly into the brain? :-)
but thnx for clearing that up :-)

I wont make it too complicated !
I totaly agree with Max words :
... So all this is ok until you don't hear that something is wrong...
good night
