ASIO with 48,000kHz in Cubase

Hi!
I just bought a Soundblaster live and now I am trying out the kx driver. It works pretty fine, but all my old songs have 44 kHz Quality, so when I try to open them I get a message dialog from Cubase, which allows me to convert them to 48,000Hz but after this I get a message which says that converting isn't possible. Why could this be? I'm using a VST Instrument, LoopAZoid, and so now the Samples which I use in LoopAZoid have 48kHz and so I cannot switch to Multimedia ASIO Driver for those old songs. Any idea, what I can do, or is there any possiblity to convert the files?I also tried to convert all samples of th Cubase file to 48 kHz, when I do this Cubase does not "recognize it", there appears exactly the same dialog again, when I tried to work with the new file, the were a lot of "bad Sounds" (knaxen)

Another Question:
Is it possible that with the kx-ASIO driver and the 48kHz Quality the bps are not realy correct?(general)

As far as i know CUbase does not convert 44 000 files to 48 000 files automatically.

It will either play them as they are which means that they will be "pitched" or it will reject them.

The one way to do it is to convert the 44 000 files to 48 with an external audio editor.

You could try using a demo of "Cool edit" (i think they run for one month) and convert the files.

You can also use the E-mu converter that came with the original E-mu APS. It seems to do a good job converting from 44 to 48k. Search the net for srconv.exe .

hm I also found another converter for free which also converts your files to MP3 if you want to its name is"dB Power Amp Music Converter" the wavs which I converted where fine but my song itself had many of those "knix" and "knax" so perhaps it is the problem that waves are not 100% exact so that in Cubase they are cutted in between the waves.

hi holger,

i also had to convert some of my older tracks from 44.1 to 48kHz. i used coolpro for most of them and imported them to sx. that worked fine. however, the cubase convert option also worked fine for my files. maybe it's a problem with the file format, how did you create the waves in the first place ?

of course, one should also make sure that the WAV files are not set to Read-Only

If you're using Cubase SX, try deleting the peak files. I've had similar problems with old takes and deleting their peak files seems to have worked out fine.
