KX automation is handled via the KX CONTROL midi port...

is meant for using a DAW host (such as Cubase or Sonar) to control most any plugin parameter/control (sliders, switches) by sending midi CC (Continious Controller) data that corresponds to THAT plugin paramter/control as configured in the KX automation applet.

I suspect to use Girder -
1) set KX Control as your default MIDI port..
2) make midi files that contain the midi CC commands
3) set girder to play the corresponding midi file that would perform the action you desire.

This is a WAY inconvenient and potentially slow way of doing things...

I personally don't think you would consider this as a solution... I don't.

But its also the only thing this moron can think of....

I would love to see the ability in KX to map keys to increase/decrease slider in plugins (or toggle switches - or even select a particular plugins settings) but it has of yet come into being..AFAIK

Another way is to use scripting in MIDI-OX - I havent tried it, but everything I read about it suggests you could: make a MIDI OX script to send midi CC with keystrokes - then simply set Girder to 'press' those keys...

Im a programming tard - so I can't help with that (I understand MidiOx scripting ability is just a COM object thats accessable in Windows Scripting (or other languages too I suspect) ... but Im prolly wrong on that)

Thats all I can think of... anyone else??

What keys?
Keyboard keys or MIDI keyboard notes?
If the latter, toggling switches is possible all along.

You probably mean; selecting plugin presets.
That's possible too if the plugin author has implemented such features.
(for example: see my ASynth/Dsynth were you can select presets through midi bank&patch number)

Btw: there's also the kXi VSTi plugin which you didn't mention.

I was refering to using PC keyboard keys to adjust sliders and switches...

But Girder (AFAIK) doesnt send MIDI data - just PC KB keystroke.

Also - yes, I meant a plugin preset... but it doesnt seem many plugin authors have implented (or I dont see how to do so) selecting presets via patch/bank select...

The KX VSTi - yes - I forgot about that as I never used this.. (not sure what thats for actually, I *think* its to use KX soundfonts in cubase, or in some version of cubase ??...)
