Cebit 2009 has now well and truly started and although this is a quiet year compared to last there are still some interesting products on show, here are DH’s highlights from Day 1.

DFI
At the DFI booth there were a number of new AMD motherboards on show with the highest specification model being the AM3 based 790FXB-M3H5. For those still on DDR2 there were the 790FX and GX products but the most interesting board on show was actually Intel based...  a M-ATX X58 board which still manages to retain the 6 memory slots. All of these boards come with the new ABS2 functionality which takes 30 seconds to tune your PC when turned on for the first time but ensures it is running optimally without any manual configuration of the BIOS.

At another section of the DFI booth was their new cooling range which features the Megahalems for CPUs and the FlameFreezer for motherboard chipsets. Alongside these was an interesting picture of the heatpipe used by DFI compared to another manufacturers, it is easy to see why DFIs is higher quality.


Enermax
At the Enermax stand they were showing off their new high end PSU, the 1250w Revolution which we recently reviewed (DH Review Here) however it was their peripherals section which contained the most interesting products. The Aurora range has been expanded to include a Micro version which not only has mouse/trackball but is wireless... ideal for media centre use. In addition to this there was a model on display which shares a similar design to the full sized Aurora in terms of key layout however it is ultra thin and plastic rather than Aluminium.



Sapphire
Over at the Sapphire stand there was a selection of the latest graphics cards including the Vapour-X 4870, there was also a new AMD 790 based board for AM2+ users as well as an AM3 version which was being prepared for an overclocking challenge. Without doubt the most impressive item has to be their new PSU range which is based on Enermax technology. Sapphire initially took a mainstream PSU and requalified it (with changes/improvements) to pass workstation class tests and then sold it on in the professional market. They are now expanding the range, including a 1250w model, to cover enthusiasts and gamers but retaining the same high specifications and quality. Watch out for a review on DriverHeaven in the future.
