Help!!! Downloaded BIOS file will not delete.

I don't understand what's going on....

I decided to see if there was an updated BIOS for my Abit KV7 m/b and downloaded the file (kv720.exe) to my secondary storage drive directly from Abit's website, expanded it and proceeded to update my BIOS without issue.

Now it won't let me delete the file I downloaded. It let me delete the expanded data (and anything else I want to delete) but not the initial downloaded kv720.exe file.

It keeps saying that it's in use by another program. Now what could possibly be using a zip file in exe form?

I've tried using safe mode and even deleted any registry enties referring to the kv720.exe file. No luck. I even tried AdAware, Spybot and Spywareblaster to see if any crap was in the system. It found some "thing" to remove, but I still can't delete the file.

So how can I delete the file or determine what program is "using" the file?

It's definately a "WTF" situation. I updated the BIOS in PC's the exact same way many times and never had this problem before.

Anyone have any ideas?

EDIT: Also tried rebooting and shutting down completely, still no go.

I can't say it enough..W T F?!?

System Specs

A ZIP-managing program may scan .exe's for ZIP contents, so that might be it. I'd try putting a .cmd file in the same folder as the .exe with the following command line.
del kv720.exe
Then upon the next reboot run the .cmd file before doing anything to the kv720.exe file, as accessing the file through the graphical user interface is likely what activates the issue.

Thanks for the tip, but I got it.

I went into safe mode with command prompt and typed:
del d:\kv720.exe and it's gone now.

Thanks again though.

EDIT: typo...
