Question about PCI Latency Tool 2.x

Hi guys,

I have a question;

I read on many different websites a low PCI Latency is better for performance Raid / Videocard / Audigy / etc.

Well, after a few days of adjusting stuff with the PCI Latency tool v2.7, I found something weird.

The higher latency I give my RAID Controller, the higher the scores in HD Tach...?
Also in game results when saving is very very noticeable between PCI Latency for my Raid Controller between 32 (or lower whatever) vs. 192.

At 192 my Raid performance is much higher (and loads stuff faster).

Since I am playing Football Manager 2006, which has long saves, it's very noticeable.

So... Since this work for my RAID controller, will the same work for my videocard...? Or do different rules apply to videocard... Cause I am kinda baffled, cause I always thought the lower the PCI Latency, the better the performance between compenents...?

Can someone clarify this for me???

Thnx.

System Specs

The latency is how long a device can HOLD the PCI bus, so devices with higher latency have a preferential bus usage compared to devices with lower latency.

Devices with high latency will often starve other devices of capacity - that's why the usual tip of bringing down escessive video card latency ususally smooths access for other devices - eg. reducing sound glitching.
