Opera
Just trying Opera now and only Opera to see if I like it. Takes some getting used to but I like the search panel and the price comparison button. It seems though like it could be optimized more so its faster and I don't really know how to edit that sort of stuff. Some sites its incredibly slow at loading compared to Firefox, some its a great deal faster.
See, look z, I do try new stuff.
But not Macs

I like opera, I dont like:
And I agree with zardon try an alternate OS. dual boot windows and an "easy to use" distro like gentoo or ubuntu, if you dont want to devote hd space just yet there are many options for a Live (Boot from cd) version, which will give you a feel for the os.

well, i think that's still a bit high, but as long as the number don't need to keep rising and it seems to you that it'll stay at certain point, then your Windows's memory management should be working fine.

that's not right and no good.
was the voice plugins being auto detect after you installed the Opera? or you've it installed yourself?
if you want to do or to try it out...
clean uninstall the Opera (choose to remove all of its redundant files when uninstalling the program. also, do a manually remove on your Opera profiles files). then reinstall it and without any plugins and see?
if you want to keep your settings, cookies, bookmarks, etc do it first.

for years of using it and AFAICT, the Opera itself does not need/require memory/virtual memory that high.
don't really know for sure why it actups like that on your Windows system.

Hey, I told you I'd try it. I am trying to customize and such now. Its got a lot of advantages but the speed problem is there. Probably just an error. I was also looking maybe at one of those Power books. I may get one when they start implimenting the better CPU's. Mostly would be using that for design and business. I'd just have to get used to the control click : (.

Yes when intel hit the scene it will certainly be a nice development, however after using a QUAD G5 today I have to say im pretty smitten with the performance, however downside would be the incredible amount of money they are asking for it and they still ship with a default ram size of 512 ! mind blowingly stupid IMO.
Anyway, you will find most people who have a hate for macs feel they are gimmicky or a graphic designers tool. But I have to say anyone who loves technology will love playing with Tiger OS, it is a beautiful UNIX OS with a lovely macintosh front end powering it. Of course it wont appeal to die hard windows users, but I really have very little loyalty for any particular company or platform, I try as much as I can on all platforms and walk away with what I feel is a good knowledge of all of them. I mean we could start a huge thread on the pros and cons of Windows, unix, linux but I think thats for a different thread
Oh yes, on the subject of opera, Im not a huge fan of the macintosh version, I prefer safari 2 on OSx/Tiger. its a tad faster and works better.
