xp tweaks
well, may be you already done it, this's not new and i got it from a website i forgot the address..
actually it's quite lots more but i think these shud be okay for everybody.
(may be somebody already wrote all of these, i'll put it here anyway)
**Define a logical value for System Cache**
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Session Manager\Memory Management]-"LargeSystemCache"
If intention is to use the computer like a workstation, set its value to 0.
If intention is to use the computer like a server, set its value to 1.
**Increase speed by tweaking prefetcher settings**
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Session Manager\Memory Management\PrefetchParameters\EnablePrefetcher];
Set the value to either 0-Disable, 1-App launch prefetch, 2-Boot Prefetch, 3-Both ("3" is recommended).
**MFT (Master File Table) manipulations to improve disk performance**
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\FileSystem]-"NtfsMftZoneReservation"
set/add its value to 2 (1 is interpreted as 12.5% ,2 as 25% and so on)
**Improve system performance by disabling last access/update feature**
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\FileSystem]-"NtfsDisableLastAccessUpdate"
set its value to 1 to disable lass access update feature.
**Improve system performance by disabling DOS 8.3 naming convention**
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\FileSystem]-"NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation"
set its value to 1.
**Speedup boot time by improving NTFS check**and use bootvis too.. got to have it**
@command prompt type CHKNTFS/T:4 This command would set the AUTOCHK initiation count time down to 4.(default 9 seconds)
**Run Windows Explorer in its own process. Avoid Total Explorer Crash***
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\Advanced]-"SeparateProcess"
set its value to 1
**Speed up Network Browsing**
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Explorer/RemoteComputer/NameSpace]
Find a key named {D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF}.
Right click on it and delete it.
**Turn off Indexing to speed up XP**
1. Open my computer
2. Right click your hard drive icon and select properties.
3. At the bottom of the window you'll see "Allow indexing service to index this disk for faster searches," uncheck this and click ok.
4. A new window will pop up and select apply to all folders and subfolders.
5. Diabled in Services "Indexing Service"
**Disable Windows XP to open the compressed/zipped folder**
@START >RUN type "regsvr32 /u zipfldr.dll" (without quotes)
**Remove Messenger**
@START >RUN type "RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove"
**Disable Default CD Burning capability**
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\Explorer] and look for key "NoCDBurning". You may not find it there if this is your first time. In this case, create a new DWORD key "NoCDBurning" and set its value to disable it.
or
ALTERNATE METHOD:
@windows explorer and locate the drive that corresponds to CD-RW drive. Right click on it and select properties. Within Properties window, go to Recording tab and you would see and option called "Enable CD Recording on this drive". If it is checked , deselect it.

"2 cents worth" is just an expression that means....
someone is telling you their opinion or what they think about a particular topic. So when you see it now, you will know that someone is just telling you what they think and giving your their opinion. That is, if you WERE actually serious.
