How long did you wait? On a friend of mines system it took about 15 mins to get past that - but it got past it eventually

|High Point| - It's your on-board IDE controller... (HP in the following text)

The thing is... you should have a driver disk provided for your HP, I believe you got it with your motherboard; Start XP installation again and keep an eye on the bottom text line - it should say 'press F6 to if you need to install SCSI or 3rd party device drivers' (not necessarily in my exact words), press F6 and wait a while; info screen should come up, saying to put the driver disk in your A: drive, do so and continue the installation...
I had an Abit board (the BE6) and couldn't install XP, or Win2k as a matter of fact, without providing the drivers...

Hope that helped!

Keep us posted...

It may be your vid card, you don't say what you have.
If I have my GF3 in it hangs at exactly that point. If I swap it out for an old GF1, everything installs fine. Then I just swap the GF3 back in.
Everything is fine from then on.

Hope that helps if your still stuck.
