itunes reboots system

Hi All,

I have an Acer Ferrari 5000. Here are the specs.

Process: AMD Turion™ 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-60
(2x512KB L2 cache, 2.0GHz)

Chipset: ATI® Radeon® Xpress 1150

Video Card: ATI® Mobility™ Radeon® X1600 graphics

2GB of memory.

I had an iphone and when i take pictures and sync it to my laptop, it blue screens it. I found out it was because of the camera that came with the laptop. So I needed to disable the camera to make things work. So I decided to do a fresh XP Pro installation. I did that and then upgraded my video card driver to 7.10 with the help of the modding tool. Everything worked great. I didn't decide to install the camera driver because it will probably blue screen my laptop again. Then I installed itunes 7.5. Everything work great until I reboot my laptop. Once Xp was loaded, it would reboot the system by itself. It would always do this over and over. I restored my system before the itunes installation and it worked fine. Then i reinstalled itunes and disable all of the apple's processes that starts during startup. This didn't work because I was not able to disable ituneshelper.exe. It rebooted and then I kill the process before my laptop go to the point of restarting. Everything looked promising because it didn't restart. Then I ran itunes and my laptop frozed on me. Any suggestion guys? I would like to have itunes so that I can sync my iphone with my laptop and not have to get another laptop/desktop for my iphone. Sorry for the long post, I wanted to be detailed as possible.

so the iphone cannot act as a removable disk? you're forced into itunes?

ituneshelper would be a service i think, so you'd disable that to stop it from starting up (not a regular startup process)

System Specs

I've been doing a little research. It seems there are some problems with itunes 7.5. Crashes, though nothing exactly like yours, seem to be common.

Have you tried an older version of iTunes? If not, give it a shot. You may want to uninstall QuickTime 7.3 and try version 7.16 (Apple - Support - Downloads - QuickTime 7.1.6 for Windows), that seems to fix it for some. If not, you might be waiting for an update form Apple.
