Give Opera a try and decide for yourself. If you want something that's more mem conservative you might want to try Avant browser, wich is an IE front end.

What do you mean Firefox is using too much mem? RAM? Hard Drive Space? For me Firefox uses 50-75MB of HD and 40-50MB RAM.

I've been an opera fan since 7.x beta, and I don't see myself changing anytime soon.

both are good, personal taste.

opera for the speed, gestures and overall interface. firefox if you like the plugins.

I've tried them both for a good length of time and I like Opera much better, but like Z says, it's personal taste.

the web browser itself should never used way too much system memory, processor cycles or other system resources. however, with the firefox some of the installed extensions can cause memory leak problem to your system, so if you find the firefox uses way too much system memory you may want to check all the extensions that you've installed them.
